Jewish Brides...

Jewish Brides...

That are having the 7 Blessing Ceremony...

How are you incorporating this? We were thing of having the BP read them & FH's Aunt & Uncle who we're close with...

I'm not sure how this has been done, I've never seen it. I'm Catholic, but I will be converting, FH is Jewish, but he has a small family & the one wedding (for his family) that we've been too was non-religous ceremony...

TIA

Its not usually like that. It is just something that the Rabbi says. Do you have a Rabbi???

You might want to pick up 'The New Jewish Wedding'. It will walk you through a Jewish wedding -- which I warn you -- is nothing like a traditional catholic wedding.

We had a very orthodox jewish ceremony, our Rabbi had the 7 blessings printed phoenetically on index cards and we provided him with a list of family members we wanted to honor along with which blessings we wanted to give them to read.

During the ceremony, he called them up one at a time and they did the blessing.

I second this, it's a great book that explains EVERYTHING and has lots of great suggestions.
As for the 7 blessings, we're choosing people who are not in the BP to honor. They will each read a blessing in English and then the rabbi will read it in Hebrew.

Thanks, I'll check it out, also, anywhere to learn the traditional dances?

I was thinking of having our BP read in English & FH's Aunt & Uncle read in Hebrew, His Aunt also converted

which traditional dances?

The only one I'm aware of is Havah Nagila, which really doesn't require any 'learning,' you just kind of skip around in a circle and then get thrown up into the air on a chair.

Are there others I'm missing though? Do you mean you want to learn traditional Israeli folk dance?

You dont have to dance, you just sit your dairy rear down and enjoy yourself

The whole ceremony was about 30 mins. The seven blessings (which are only a part) run about 10 min.
