I got into a discussion with my FMIL today and she told me that at Jewish weddings that there's no guestbook for guests to sign...this floored me as I never heard of it before... I'm not having my wedding at a temple but I'd like to have a guestbook for people.
Anyone not doing or doing a guestbook?

Re: Jewish Brides- Are You Having a Guestbook?
I can't remember ever signing a guest book at a wedding -- I've only been to a handful, and most were Jewish. One Italian.

Sad thing is I just bought the guestbook that I love...I think I am going to just use it anyhow and to heck with it.... we're doing lots of untraditional things so my guess this will be one of them.

I don't see how anyone could object to your having a guest book -- even if its not traditional, its not sacreligious or anything like that. I'm having shrimp and scallops at my Jewish wedding if that makes you feel any better! The few people who keep kosher just won't eat them. Its your wedding, do what you want!

I am jewish and I never heard of that one. My daughter had one and most everyone signed it. You could look in my DIY section of my photo album of what it looked like. I say use it!!! but that is JMO

Thanks ladies you made me feel a bit better- that was the first time I heard of it as well when I spoke to my FMIL... I was like 'huh?'
I think just because they were married over 40 years ago that it may not be a thing to do then.
I'm not gonna worry about it and just do w/e- like everyone says its my wedding..lol

Re: Jewish Brides- Are You Having a Guestbook?
There were a few non-traditionally Jewish things that I did regardless of people's opinions. My mother told us not to have programs - I did them anyway. Many of our guests were not Jewish and really appreciated the explanation of our traditions. I also had a 'wish bowl' instead of a guest book. I had little pew cards in envelopes - the same ones I used as place cards and put some labels on them. People really liked it. It gave everyone an opportunity to express themselves. I still read the cards from time to time.

I plan on having a guestbook. I don't think that it is against Judiasm to have one, so why not?

I'm not but it has nothing to do with me being Jewish, I wasn't planning on having one anyway.

Ditto - I did not have one. I also didn't have programs and I didn't give out favors.

Re: Jewish Brides- Are You Having a Guestbook?
I had a guestbook where I asked people to include their emails so that we can email them photos from the wedding.

That's another great idea- I like that also you get some of the non- professional shots as well.
