Ask your florist. I'm using a large four poster thing they have and I'll get tulle to cover the top. If your reception hall has a gazebo, you can use that as well. As far as renting, check your local party supply store you may be able to rent/buy something there. Also, you could make your own chuppha if you want. All it really needs is 4 poles and some beautiful fabric.

Re: Jewish brides: Chuppah question

I went through this dilemma...most of the florists wanted to charge anywhere from $600-$1000 to rent me one. I was then going to rent it from Patchogue Floral Fantasyland...for $150 and have my brother and SIL set it up...but then that was causing too much trouble. So...now I'm getting it from my florist...but he is not charging me insane prices like the ones I was quoted!

Too funny! I recently posted with the same question. I don't know how to bump my innitial post. but if you search for my subject which was ' Chuppah and Ketubah design' it will come up. I think I am going to make mine b/c I would like an arched one, and my florist (who's actually an artist that does flowers on the side) doesn't have access to one.

If you come up with any other ideas, please let me know!!

I am going to do one of these...weather permitting...I will do the first one...but without all those 'weeds' on the bottom. And it will be decorated with red and ivory roses to match my colors. If the weather is not nice and we have the ceremony inside, I will do #2...again, not so many flowers as the display but you get the idea.

You could also rent one from a Judaica shop - like Zion Lion or Yussel's Place.

They are amazing!! Where are you getting them from, or are you making them yourself?

Ask your hall or your florist. They can either get you one, or they will know who can.

PS- Does anyone know if Yussel's or Zion Lioin have websites?

I just checked - and they both have websites. I just did a Yahoo search in quotes. I would post them, but I'm not sure how.

Kim those are pretty choices for the Chuppah. We have been told Land's End has been actively searching for a Chuppah. I am hoping it works out, but its good to know alternatives just in case.

I am getting them from my florist....and you would fall on the floor if you knew how cheap I was getting them. All thanks to NYLISA!

The first one is if we have an outdoor ceremony...but I wouldn't like the way it looked it we had it inside...this way I can decide the day before depending on the weather.

My rabbi is supplying it if we cannot have the ceremony outside (weather permitting). If it is outside we are using the Gazebo. They are about $1000 to rent I hear plus decorating it with flowers!

You cn amke it wiht tulle as someone suggested. There are also some creative ideas I'm considering

1) Using the tallis of a deceased relative. We may used FH's grandfather's, that what he's part of the ceremony.

2) (This is good for an e-party or shower) Send pieces of fabric to close friends and family and have them decorate it with a special message - have someone handy sew it all together.

3) Go to the fabric store, find a really pretty piece of fabric.
