If you're not having a kosher reception, how do you figure out who needs a kosher meal? I think we'll have a few family and friends who will. How do I find out so I can order the meals?

Include on your RSVP card a space for kosher meal requests. Your invite vendor probably has standard language for this.

Do you think that's worthwhile. I think it will honestly only impact a handful of people.

i think my RH is going to just provide 15 or so kosher meals that people can just request when they order their meals ... i don't think they need to be told ahead of time how many should be ordered.

Is your hall one of the ones that offers full kosher weddings? If so, then they might be making them in house. I think my hall has to order them.

Can you find out by word of mouth if they need kosher? If there are family members/friends that are questionable about needing a kosher meal, have a parent or other family member contact them to ask.
Unless you are close to the person that keeps kosher, there is no way they can expect you to know they keep---you'd really hope they reach out to you (I already had 2 vegetarians tell me that they will need a meal)

Re: Jewish Brides - Kosher meals question
I'm going to have a vegetarian option available...which is basically that the kitchen will make whatever it is the person requests...I only have like 4 people coming who eat Kosher so I suspect they'll either eat the fish option or the veggie whatever.

Yeah, this won't be an issue for the guests who eat kosher style or aren't as strict. but some people will not eat meat for example if it's on a plate that has ever had dairy on it, or been cooked int eh same over as dairy or pork. For those people, there really is no option other than bringing food in.
