we used a light bulb for the extra pop effect. u can google Jewish items katubah.com or something, but u dont have to buy it - u can use whatever u want I bought from 99 cents store an organza bag to put it inside. in Israel ppl just wrap it in napkin or aluminum foil

any glass is ok, just something that breaks easily and some people do the lightbulb
my mom made a bag for us, lots of people just wrap it tightly in a napkin

we bought a nice blue 'breaking glass' from amazon. It was $30 + shipping, i believe ...
you need to have it covered with something so glass shards don't go everywhere.
don't use a 'regular' glass because it might break awkwardly and hurt your FH (even through his shoe)

I think my FFIL wants to take the broken glass and get it custom made into a menorah for us.. so I guess maybe I'll look for something that he can use even though I feel like a light bulb would be so easy!

If he wants to do that then you have to buy a kit...they send you a special glass to break and then you send them back the shards.
My mom bought me this for my shower, they are making it into a kiddush cup.

we got ours at Zion Lion in New Hyde Park, they have a large selection. We also got an interfaith ketubah there (I am Christian, DH is Jewish)

Our Rabbi is providing it but you can use any glass or even a light bulb (it makes more a popping sound and it's glass) .. you can also get the glasses online in different colors if you want that. Check out any Judaica website.

There is a great place in woodbury...'unique Judaica'. the people in there are very knowleable. they have the glas sto break..i think 30 dollars. Comes in many colors. Thats where we got ours. They also have mezzuzot and kiddush cups you can put the broken glass in afterwards.
You will also need a kiddush cup for the ceremony ..that is if your ceremony is jewish.
The store also has ketubah but i got mine online at mpartoworks.com. I was very happyw ith thier customer service and their prices are pretty good.
Good luck!!!

we just bought ours yesterday! we got it at the judaica store on 45th between 5th and 6th. it's light blue and comes in a felt pouch for storage of the shards. after the wedding, we're going to bring the pieces back so that they can put it in our mezzuzah.

This is where we got ours. We got the breaking glass and it comes with something to wrap it up and then a bag to put it in. Then you can bring it back and they put it in something to keep. My mom said they have all different sizes and a big selection.
I REALLY need to go back there for the interfaith ketubah. They have ones there that the officiant can sign (we're not getting married by a priest or a rabbi).

ps we got our interfaith ketubah on MPartworks online.. and had them add a line for the Priest as well as the line for the Rabbi!

Re: Jewish Brides.. or anyone that knows about Jewish weddings!
Another Question for the Jewish ladies..
My FH wants to do the Challah ceremony bc his grandpa is 85 and its the only grandpa left.. (g-d forbig I said no and then something happened to his grandpa I would feel awful) so I said that was fine it didn't bother me.. he said its a quick thing and noone really pays that much attention..
Is this true? How quick? like 5 mins or less? And when does this normally get done?
