My FPIL say that altough Jewish weddings are known to have ring bearers, even when they do they don't carry a pillow? Anyone know anything about this - why not?

Uhhh, got me there.
I've only known one Jewish wedding with w/a RB, and he had a pillow.
OK, I just checked the Everything Jewish Wedding Book, and I saw NOTHING about Ring Bearers, Period.
I see no harm in a pillow though.

Only thing I can think of is if you are getting married (having ceremony) during Shabbos. According to Jewish law, one is not supposed to 'carry' on Shabbos. Maybe that has something to do with it? Although you and BP will eb carrying bo-k's so that blows that theory out the water. LOL.
My suggestion? Ask your Rabbi if there is a reason.

I have been to many a Jewish wedding in my day and EVERYONE that had a RB carried a pillow, one carried it like a football, BUT he did have a pillow.
Mine will be carrying one!

There's nothing wrong with carrying a pillow as far as I know. The Everything Jewish Wedding Book doesn't say that there is any problem with it. I know my RB will be carrying one.

I had a ring bearer with a pillow. A conservative cantor (who leans a little to the orthodox) married us and he never said there was a problem.

SOme have a ring bearer, some don't, just like in any wedding. But I am having one and he IS carrying a pillow. I think it is up to you.
