are you getting married in the same wedding band you will wear post-ceremony? or are you buying a plain band without stones to be married in and wear? i know the ring needs to be 'unbroken,' which basically means no stones. most jewish brides i know get married in a plain band and then take it off and put on the band they like and bought. the thing is, there's something about that that throws me, like we're scamming the system or something - lol. anyway, if you are wearing a plain band (the same one you get married in), can you post pics? my mom says a plain band gets 'lost' and you need to have a little something (ie: diamonds) to sparkle (in the everyday ring, not the ceremony ring). i agree, but i'm still conflicted. so, opinions welcome! thanks

Re: jewish brides - wedding bands
As a Cantor in training, I was told in my Jewish lifecycle class that nowadays it really depends on what you want. If you want that extra sparkle, then go right ahead!
In the ceremonies I have been a part of, either as clergy or a guest, I have seen brides switch from the plain band to one w/ diamonds and I have also seen brides use diamond-laden bands for their ceremonies. I have also seen brides using a plain band only.
On a personal note, I will be using a plain band. I'll let my e-ring do the sparkling. (sorry no pics- we havent bought them yet)
Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be beautiful!

I am getting married in the plain, white gold band that my FMIL got married in. Right after the ceremony, I am switching to diamond wedding band...

Re: jewish brides - wedding bands
I am to be married in my sisters solid wedding band that she wore on her wedding day for sentimental reasons. FH will 'buy' it from her since what it represents is supposed to be indicative of his property. I will have my own solid platinum band to match my ring that I will switch to afterwards. With so much money being spent on the wedding itself, we decided to wait until an anniversary (I say 1st, HE says 5th) before we buy a diamond band. I like the tradition of a solid band and what it means, but I will most certainly NOT refuse a diamond eternity band in the future.

I will be wearing the ring I'm married in. Unbroken, no markings. We are having the jeweler smooth out the markings that usuallly come on the inside of the ring. (18k, or whatever else they put on it).

I got married in my diamond wedding band....do what makes you comfortable. I didn't see the purpose in getting a plain band and spending money on it just for the ceremony....

I got a solid band from QVC for $30 a month before the wedding and got married in that. I wear it when I don't want to risk the 'fancy' rings. 99% of the time, though, I'm in my diamond/sapphire rings!

I'm getting married with the diamond band... The Rabbi said that this was okay, whatever I felt comfortable doing.
