I am looking to have my wedding on a Friday night. The only problem is that I am Jewish and want a rabbi to marry me. Does anyone know of any reform rabbis that will be willing to do the cermony on a Friday night if I have the ceromony before sun down? Thanks for your help!!

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
I'm sorry to say this but I don't think you will be able to get any Rabbi to marry you on Friday night. Most Rabbis affiliated with a temple will be preparing for services.
It would have to be way before sundown.

You might have trouble finding even a reform rabbi to marry you on a Friday night.

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
Try doing a search for Rabbis who perform Interfaith ceremonies. They may me more likely to perform a ceremony on a Friday night.
Good luck!

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
Having a Jewish Friday night wedding is a contradiction. It just can't be done. It's worth having it on another day or night to have a beautiful Jewish ceremony, and use a good rabbi.

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
If cost is an issue, try a Sunday morning wedding, it will be about as much as a Friday night wedding. I don't think you will be able to get a rabbi (even a reform rabbi) to marry you on a friday night because I think that you are not supposed to get married during the sabbath (friday night to saturday). There are also certain forbidden days which you cannot get married.

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
Rabbi Roger Ross of Loving Hearts Ceremonies will do it and so will Rabbi Stein from the shul of new york.
ETA I knowthese rabbis will perform on shabbat, but friday night may be a problem only in that in contradicts weith services.
We're having our wedding a saturday, but we're trying to have the ceremony before sundown..we're bad!
ETA: I totally missed the part where you said 'Before sundown' I think the major problem with that as someoen said is trhat if it's a rabbi who has a congregation they'll be prepping for shabbat.

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
hun, i'm sorry to say, but the answer is no. no jewish clergy--rabbi or cantor-- will perform any lifecycle event on shabbat.
ETA: i know some brides have been able to find liberal clergy members to perform their weddings on saturdays before shabbat officially ends.

Re: Jewish Friday Night Wedding
Reform Rabbis are still Jewish, you know. No Rabbi is going to break Shabbat.
I too, would suggest the Sunday Morning option - that's what I did.
