Re: Jewish Weddings
I'm Jewish and I've never heard of not having a rehearsal dinner... Is he orthodox? If he is then I guess it might be different for them...

Re: Jewish Weddings
I'm Jewish and everyone in my family says you also do NOT have a RD. I'm sure you could have a small one if you want anyway. not all traditions need to be followed. if its important to you and he is willing to bend its ok. However, its not like a non-jewish rehearsal dinner. the rabbi will not attend, etc. We are conservative, NOT orthodox, but we won't be having one. Even some reform Jews do not have RD's. There is this book in the library... I forget what it is called but it is similar to the idiot's guide on... and it's Jewish Wedding Traditions. It has everything in there! Actually it's called the EVERYTHING Jewish Wedding Book; the complete guide. very resourceful.

Re: Jewish Weddings
I'm Jewish and I am definitely having a rehearsal dinner.
(I'm getting married on a Sunday evening, so my rehearsal dinner will be on Saturday night . I guess, if someone is getting married on a Saturday, then maybe they would not have a rehearsal dinner on Shabbat?)
What restaurant were you thinking for your rehearsal dinner?

Re: Jewish Weddings
MMM love greek food -- and I actually live in Whitestone, so I have to check this place out!
I'm not kosher, so I will not be doing anything kosher for the wedding.

Re: Jewish Weddings
I have many Jewish friends and have heard from many people that traditionally, Jews don't have RD. I think you can do whatever you want though! The times are changing and you should do what makes you happy
