Will anyone be speaking with her anytime soon...say, in the next week? If so, I wondered if you could do me a favor.
For those of you who didn't hear about my hair and makeup saga (here's the thread for reference), basically, I live 300 miles out of NY and had booked Jillian at Cactus Salon in Commack back in March for a makeup trial for my July 6 wedding for this past Sunday, June 15, which was the last weekend I was going to be in town again before the wedding. When I called Cactus to confirm the Tuesday before, they told me she was away on an Alaskan cruise (and yes, I had to call THEM to find this out, would you believe?! ) So I was stuck without a makeup trial.
Some of you suggested I try calling Jillian directly and gave me her phone #s. I left messages on both, but she never called me back!! Her voice mail said she'd be back and returning calls on Saturday the 14th.
I guess I'm just a little upset. I'm booked with her for a trial on July 3, three days before my wedding, and I've heard SO many wonderful things about her from you all, so I'm not really THAT worried, but I guess I am a little peeved that she never returned my calls to explain the situation to me or reassure me or anything.
If anyone happens to speak with her this week, I would be grateful if you could mention this to her and ask her to PLEASE call Alison in Washington, DC. Thanks a million!!!

I am in a bp with her and I will see her this weekend. I will mention something.
I can tell you that I saw pics of a friend who is using her and she looked beautiful. You have nothing to worry about.

I might be a bit harsh, but I am shocked that you're even willing to deal with her, after she hasn't called you about cancelling your first trial when she went on a cruise... and now not returning phonecalls!!! It just sounds a bit flaky to me...

It DOES sound flaky, Alina...that's why I want her to call me back and reassure me that I have nothing to worry about.
I can't really use anyone else at this late date b/c a) they're booked, b) my mom doesn't want someone coming to the house, c) I want to have everything done in one place and Cactus is supposed to give me a free trial.
Jeanna, I REALLY appreciate you talking to her for me. I have no idea why she never returned my calls!!

Is cactus also doing your hair?
Are you good at applying your own make-up? I guess it doesn't hurt to do a trial, and if you don't like it, then you can do your own make up!!! I would bring everything make-upey back to LI if I were you, just in case the make up lady decides on another cruise and forgets to tell you!!!
I am sorry, I ran into the same thing (actually had one trial, and wanted to have another one with same lady to redo eyes), but she decided to go to vacation, never returned my msges, and that's where it ended!!! But I probably have less patience than you.

Alyson, I can promise you that she will not go on vaca on July 3rd or July 6th. We are in that wedding I was talking about before on July 4th.
She really is not that type of person to not call back, dont worry I promise it will be ok.
I used to live in Arlington too and I can only imagine how hard it must be planning a wedding up here.
Dont worry!!! I actually emailed her for you as well.

From what you told me the other day, I think the salon is the one that originally booked and then cancelled your trial. I know she works both on her own and out of the salon - so I don't think that its her being flaky but more her salon. I am using her and she has always called me back promptly. Maybe she doesn't even know what the salon did. I loved my trial with her but I understand your nervousness about not having had a trial yourself. If it makes you feel any better, she really does a great job.

what about having your makeup done at the church or hotel, someone else's house?
I REALLY would consider this if I was you, even if Jillian does reassure you, you will still be driving yourself crazy for the next month whether this could happen again.... TO me that seems like a sign that you should look some more. \
FM me for a list of people I can give you that are more reasonable and will help you out for makeup.

Yes, Cactus is also doing my hair (which is another saga entirely...read my other thread, if you want to hear that one!!). And I am TERRIBLE at doing my own makeup (or hair, for that matter). In fact, I hardly wear any...just some powder (and concealer when I have zits!), eyeliner, mascara, and a touch of lipstick, very light. So I definitely need someone to do it.
Not sure how much patience I have...trying very hard to stay in control, but it's hard sometimes, especially when I'm so far away!
I really appreciate the efforts to talk to Jillian for me. Hopefully I will hear from her soon!!
Where in Arlington did you live, out of curiosity??

As for Jillian, I figured that might be the case, only I DID call both her personal #s and left messages explaining the situation and she never called me back.

I actually lived in Arlington Overlook on Columbia Pike. I worked for Britches of Georgetowne. I moved there because my FH is a teacher and was working in Prince William County. Now we are back in NY (missed the fam too much)
