jim hjelm

Has anyone got fitted for one of his bridesmaid dresses? I got fitted this weekend, im usually a size 10-12 and they sized me as a 20. even my wedding dress is a size 12. has this hapened to anyone?

i am a 12...and for every brides maid and my dress I always have to get a bigger size because of my boobs..

that seems like a big jump...but bridal/bridesmaid dress sizes are crazy. I would just ask the woman to take a look at the chart and make sure your measurements fit into that range. As long as the dress fits, it doesn't matter what size is written on the label

yes, don't be sad about it. The designer I ended up ordering from was pretty true to size but before that I thought I was ordering a paloma blanca gown which the store said they would have needed to order 3 sizes larger than I am, not a boost for the ego

yea it sounds bigger than it should be, you won't be the same as street clothes, but not that much

BM dresses are all sized differently. I usually wear a size 2 but I recently ordered a Jim Hjelm dress for my friends wedding and they ordered me a 12 Last may i ordered a diff BM dress and it was ordered in an 8. My wedding gown was ordered in a 6 so GO FIGURE!!! I think it really just depends on where your measurements fall within that particular designers charts and they want it to be a little bit bigger to be safer b/c you can always take it in.

Don't be upset. We ordered Jim Hjelm dressses and they ran VERY big. My cousin who is barely a size 2 ordered a size 8. They run very small

did you try on a sample of any of his dresses...
i tried one on this weekend for my friends wedding and the sample fit-- so use that as a base line for yourself.. we ended up getting a watters and my chart size was bigger but the sample fit so i signed off for the smaller size..

I wear a 10-12 dress too and got measured between an 18 and 20. I ordered the 18 b/c my sister ordered the 20 for my wedding and was too big on her. (she could have gotten a sixteen)

My wedding dress was a 12.

DONT WORRY!! lol i just got my jim hjelm BM dresses and my friend who wears a 00 in jeans and is barely 100 lbs had to order a 6...dont let it get 2 ya thats just how they run

I have a PB dress. I'm usually a 4 and I fit perfectly in the sample dress which was a 10! We actually ordered a 12, just in case I gain any weight over the course of the year (i have some medical issues that are under control, but just in case)

i still think i would be fine with the 10 but my mom was adament about me getting the 12, so i did. it will need to be taken in but better safe than sorry....

big jump for me too! i'm 5'4 and 125ish

This could just be a trait of the designer...Dont let it hurt your feeling or get you down...its not your fault thats how he designs hisBM gowns!

I would ask them to go over the sizing and your measurements with you again, might make you feel more comfortable to see it for yourself

I've never done the bridesmaid dresses for myself and I'm not sure what my girls sizes are but for my wedding dress I was almost 10 sizes bigger than my reg. size!!! so don't worry!!!

Don't feel bad. Jim Hjelm has the most ridiculous sizing I've ever seen. My sister is a size 0 - maybe smaller - and she had to order a size 8!! She threw a sh!t fit, but honestly, it's just a silly little tag in a dress that you're going to wear once. Rip the tag out if it makes you feel better - just please don't feel bad about it - it's the designer, not you!

My MOH had a meltdown outside of the store where we got her gown bc she is normally a 10 and they had to order a 20 for her!

It's ridiculous the difference in size but it's just a number and it is totally inaccurate!!!
