Job search question

As you all know, I am still searching for a job. I think I have mentioned my desire to be a literary agent. Well, I was talking to a friend of mine who is also in publishing and together we brainstormed an idea to get me some agent experience.

The idea that my friend and I came up with was to see if this really nice woman who is well known in the industry, but only recenlty started her own company and can't expand yet, would perhaps let me intern with her to learn the ropes while I collect unemployment benefits. I almost went to work for her at her last job (2 years ago) but the salary was too low and I was planning a wedding and saving for a house. She liked me and wanted to hire me on the spot, too.

I e-mailed her on Tuesday about my intern idea and haven't heard back yet.

When should I call her?

I would call today. Follow up to see if she's even around...she very well may be on vacation this week.

She said she loves the idea BUT she doesn't have the space (physical space) or even the need for an intern right now. She did suggest I contact another agency where she worked when she decided to switch from editor to literary agent.

I think she is a good contact to have. I just wish I could have interned with her.
