Re: John Anthony Brides
verdila,You have nothing to worry about with any of the food you choose at JAs. Everything is absolutely delicious .. from the choices at the cocktail hour, to your courses, to the cake .. it's all plentiful and so good!
Our crepe was spinach and ricotta. It's funny, I had the wrong idea of what the crepe was going to be .. I was thinking flaky pastry stuffed with spinach and ricotta .. but this was more like a manicotti type thing .. but lighter. As for the cake .. it was yellow cake, with either the chocolate mousse or pudding .. I can't exactly remember. The only thing with the cake, was we thought it would be bigger than it was. It was the 4-tier cake as promised (since it was included), but each layer of cake was smaller in diameter than we expected. At the time we signed on the contract, they included an ice cream sundae bar.
The only other 'issue' (if you want to call it that) we had with our reception, was we only got back 12 or 13 of our 25 table cameras, so I can't be sure that they put every single camera out since I had some tables (the bigger ones and the ones with the kids) that were to get more than one. If JAs did put them all out as requested by the sheet I wrote out, then we had an awful lot of guests go home with them!
You may want to have your DJ/Band make an announcement to drop off the cameras (if you're using them) at a given spot toward the end of the night, or have someone from your party go around and collect them .. and that really should go for any reception .. it could have happened anywhere.
Enjoy your planning!

Re: John Anthony Brides
I was also concerned about my guests having to ask for a double order of chicken/filet mignon. So before I booked, I called to ask if the guests would be offered the choice and I was told they would. It seems that everyone's experience is that the guests will have to ask. If that is the case I would like to have menu cards that let the guests know they have a choice.jeng - Did JA's mention whether or not you could do that? (BTW...I am also a 'jeng')

Re: John Anthony Brides
I didn't include the note that you can double up on chicken and filet. I'm not sure if JA's would go for that.I'm not concerned really. After all that food at the cocktail hour I would doubt that many people would have room for two pieces of chicken or filet. It' not like we'll be starving them or anything.
If you do want mention it on the menu, I would definitely run it by JA's first!
Going by Jen G reminds me of elementary school when there were so many Jennifers. Next month I'll be Jen C

Hi there...Just a note......I got married at JA's last Sept. (it's hard to believe it's almost a year!) anyway...we had the white cake with canolli filling...i only got to eat it when we did the whole bride/groom cake cutting thing but it was delicious!!! I was trying so hard to get back to my seat when I saw that a piece was there but ended up getting pulled in so many directions that I never made it there!!! :(
anyway, have no fear girls!!! the food was amazing and I still get compliments from my family how great everything was!!!
