John Anthony no feely good ...

Original post by anna

My poor little champ.. He's such a good sport, even when he's sick...

Last week at the gym/daycare a few of the moms were talking about their kids just getting over what their brother had and one girl was coughing a little, looked feverish, etc. and my mgr was like 'Anna keep JA AWAYYY from them! ' She didnt realize this until the mom told her they were sick, and the girl was playing in the far corner on her own, so we didnt get a chance to really notice too much.

Well sure enough, yesterday we were in Queens (we slept over because we had a wedding Sat nite, and then we were going out to a big lunch with my family at an Italian Restaurant). Well ALLL NIGHTTT daddy and JA got NOO SLEEPP at all. Maybe an hour all nite. JA has this croupy-cough, dry, hoarse breathing, has been feverish on and off and runny nose to top it off...
He sounds like a little seal

We took him yesterday morning, back home and to the Dr to make sure it wouldnt get worse throughout the day. He basically just said EVERYTHING my MIL said (I should just give HER my copay from now on )
-It will go away within 4-5days.
-Hot Shower mist or cold air - good for clearing his throat.
-Avoid milk and milk products - make the flem worse. Stick to thinner liquids (pedialyte, juice, water).
-Giving him Robutussin

So far, he's still always smiling and playing, sick and all. he's such a good sport. But it makes me feel so bad seeing his helpless little face... I just gave him a warm bath. He's going down for a nap soon, and then we're going to take a walk for some fresh air...

Hopefully it's just a day or 2 more...

Anna: How have you been feeling?

Re: John Anthony no feely good ...

Hi Marcela!

Ive been feeling great, thank goodness.. and thanks for asking
Already feeling kicks (time goes too fast!) and cant beleive its only 4months away!

I get kinda sad when I think that JA is 'losing' his 'my baby' role to me...

Last night, he couldnt sleep, so I was up with him, and we were laying on the couch, in the same spot where I would nurse him/sleep with him as a newborn in between feedings (and also because it was easier on the c-scar to NOT have to climb into bed)... So all these memories came back, and I was looking at how huge he is compared to back then...
and then it hit me that I was 'carrying' both of them 'on top of me'. (I was laying on my back)...

You asked 'how ya feeling' at a moment that I had a story to ramble about! (what else is new right?)
Its really easy for a mommy to get emotional, never mind a preggo mommy

glad to hear JA is feeling better- Julianne had that croupy cough about 1-1/2 months ago...steamy shower running really helped her...it was gone in 3 days...and now we keep a humidifier going in her room

We always have the warm air mist in his room once the weather changes and the heat is on.
He's getting better. Nights are worse than days. seems he's much more congested at night. Wish he could sleep sitting up

Re: John Anthony no feely good ...

UPDATE!

I dont know if I feel sorry for myself and John for feeling like zombies right now or for poor little John Anthony...

He hasnt shown any more or different symptoms. He/we just had the MOST sleepless night since he's been born! Yikes, how much worse will it get with a newborn AND him!

Just on and off crying ALLLLL night (VERY unlike him Tried all the usual:changed him, fed him, held him as he slept)... Usually he's fine to be put back, but not this time. It was a repeat routine every hour So I finally let him just lay next to me in my bed. John went to sleep on the couch because he's afraid he'll roll over onto him or even lean an arm over him, and I didnt sleep well either, worried that he might just get up and mosey on, off the bed

Well at least he got some sleep near mommy. He's been very clingy lately He just falls asleep fine if one of us is near him, if he simply feels us, hears us, and we better be holding him too...

IT's ALLL SOOOO worth it though...
*yawn*

Awww JA wants to be near Mommy. If I had you for a mom, I'd want to always be near you too, Anna!

I'm glad he's feeling better overall and I hope he sleeps better tonight.

Re: John Anthony no feely good ...

AWe, thanks ladies!

He's gEtting much better. Just lingering cough and runny nose, but its just about gone I hope

Last night, of course he had to wrap mommy around his little fingers again... Cried. We slept on the couch for an hour. Put him in the crib, and he's still sleeping at 9am!!! (NEVER sleeps past 7:30!)

Sometimes it's cute when he's wide awake and Im exhausted. I was trying to give him medicine, and he was playing with the dropper, looking around the house, saying his new sound (kinda like saying 'oh wow') with his little face ) Tired and all, ya cant get mad at that little face!

Thanks again for the well wishes
