PS - They don't charge you a vendor's fee for limos, do they? We are not doing a 're-pick' after the ceremony...do the limo drivers eat?

Re: John Anthony's brides
Did any of the past JA brides have any children at the reception? MY FSIL is insisting that reception halls do not put chairs out for children that you are not paying full price for. I would think it would be pretty difficult for a parent to enjoy themselves if they had to have their kid on their lap the whole night. Does anyone know JA's policy?

Re: John Anthony's brides
yes I had children at JA's for my wedding and of course they provided chairs for them. You just count them as a person (how ever little they are) when you do your table charts!

Re: John Anthony's brides
Thanks Denise. My FSIL got married at Villa Lombardi's and they did not put chairs out for any of the children. That is ridiculous considering how much you are paying for the reception.

Re: John Anthony's brides
hello all! I'm coming in a little late to this also, but have a few questions for the already JA brides...Banquet Mgr, Matrie 'd, and bridal attendant. What's the difference in their job functions? Do you tip each? On the contract, 'plus tax and TIP' and '$300-500 gratuity'... who gets what? From what I read, I'm thinking the matre 'd gets the whole $500 and if you feel like giving the bridal attendant anymore $$, you can and the banquet mgr gets $0.
Sorry girls, I'm just confused!
Also, did any JA brides request chair covers? Xtra $$? Saturday evening brides, what time did coctail hr start? Also, for pics, did you run into any other brides while taking pics outside or the day wedding going on?
And lastly, (whew!) any comments about the cake/bakery. Choices of styles of cakes, creative cake ideas or do you have to pick out of standard styles.
Thanks so much girls...sorry so long!

Re: John Anthony's brides
Let me try to address several questions:The banquet mgr is the person you sign with she is the one you meet with initally and then work with in the menu planning, banquet planning, seating etc. She was not at the affair and she does not get a tip.
The Maitre D is the one who runs the affair that evening and makes sure everything runs smoothly, and the servers are doing their jobs, and everyone is happy, bla, bla, bla, she is kind of the director of the evening...they get the 500 tip.
The bridal attendant was our (Bridal Party and parents) personal assistant. She did everythign from making sure our drinks were filled, getting plates for us at cocktail hr and bringing them to bridal suite to fixing my bustle. Tipping is optional- i tipped her.. as she really made me feel like a queen!

Re: John Anthony's brides
Oh --the standard cake (one that comes with the package) is a 4-tier cake, choice of yellow or chocolate cake and a choice of i think 4 types of fillings and 2 kinds of icing. We did a white whipped cream icing, with yellow cake and choc. mousse filling. There are other more beautiful cakes that cost extra but we opted for the standard one offered- it was good. Banquet mgr will go over this at menu planning and show you pictures of various cakes.Edited to say:
We had the florist give JAs a dozen fresh cut roses and the chefs arranged them on our cake. It looked pretty!

Re: John Anthony's brides
Thank you so much, you answered all my questions!! How much did you end up tipping the bridal attendant? I hate to be suprised when it comes to the contracts. But, when the service is excellent..i'm all about shelling out some xtra $$$.I guess from what you said, it's a little xtra for a speciality cake..Reason I ask, I saw a beautiful beach themed cake in Martha Stewart I would like done. So, not sure if they'll do it, guess I'll have to pay $$. Do you have a pic of your cake? I would love to see it! And thanks so much for all the info!!

Cynthia- I tipped the bridal attendant 50 bucks, its not in the contract, i just felt she went above and beyond (JA's pays her a salary.) My scanner is broken so i havent scanned any pics yet but when i get a new one will scan them!

Re: John Anthony's brides
verdila or anyone else who knowsDo we get a choice of color for the chair colors? I thought they only had black?
Also, I am having my ceremony upstairs, cocktail hour downstairs and reception upstairs and I could have sworn she mentioned something about two Maitre D's that night one for upstairs and one for down stairs, could that be right? So that does that mean I have to tip both individually 300-500?

Re: John Anthony's brides
We had the downstairs lounge for the cocktail hr and the upstairs room for reception....we only had one maitre D...Even if you have two, Dont tip twice - a maitre D for one hour and then another one for 4? Doesnt make sense.I thought there was choice of seat covers....though I chose black (white tablecloths, black napkins, black chair covers) -- i could have sworn i saw green, off white, purple, etc as a choice but i cant remember now.
