Has anyone had/been to a wedding reception @ John Anthony's on the Water? I am trying to get some feedback regarding this location. Thanks.

John Anthonys ... coming soon
Our wedding is coming very quickly, and our reception will be at John Anthony`s. While I can`t comment on all the specifics just yet, I can say they`ve been a pleasure to work with. Plus, lots of people who have had experience with JAs, especially those in the industry, always tell us what a good choice we`ve made. We did attend a tasting in the spring, and the food was excellent .. another compliment we have heard from numerous people. If you`re interested in them, you should call and find out when the next tasting is .. I believe it`s Sept. 25. They only do tastings twice a year. We booked the upstairs room, with the cocktail hour downstairs in the smaller room off to the side. Their menu is extensive, and we really feel as though we are getting a lot for our money. I called several places on the water, including Chateau Le Mer, Land`s End, and Swan Club. But John Anthony`s was the only place we went to look at, and I`m glad we didn`t waste our time going anywhere else. Use the search option for more info .. there has been lots of positive feedback regarding John Anthony`s on this message board.

I went to a wedding there about 6 or 7 years ago...and I'm sorry that I don't remember that much, but I do remember that I had so much fun and it was beautiful :)

John Anthonys ... vendors (long)
For our vendors, we didn`t specifically work off their list. I did a lot of shopping around on the internet first. For example, I loved Michael O`Neill`s work on his website, much more than anyone else. So we checked them out first, and we signed with them. We also thought their video was perfect for what we wanted, so we did that too. At the time we signed with them, they weren`t part of John Anthony`s list, but now they are. Flowers was a similar situation. I loved what I saw on the Flowers by Brian website. So we checked them out, and we didn`t shop around, we just booked them. As for the DJ, I didn`t want a 'house of DJs.' Meaning, I didn`t want to meet with a booking person, and not know who was spinning our music or MCing the affair. I wanted to know the people before committing. We chose Eddie Terryn with Parameters. His demo tape was basically just the type of music we`re looking for at our wedding, and we seemed to be on the same wavelength. We`ve kept in steady contact over the past few months working out the music and are pretty much set, except for a few minor details .. mainly the intros and a special little touch I want to add to that. For limos, we looked into All Star, who is on the list at JAs, and came recommended. However, we had a very bad experience with them. We booked several appointments with them to see their cars, mainly their Rolls Royce. Well, we went to the appointments, and both times, the car was in the shop and no one had bothered to call us to let us know we should just reschedule for a later date when the car would be back. Instead, they let us drive out there and waste our time. But, when we said we might be back the following week to check in, then didn`t show up, they were on the phone to us and left a message saying we should schedule an appointment to come look at the car. I was very upset with how they wasted our time. Plus, they only had this one Rolls, and we were worried that if it was in being repaired for this long, what if it were to break down the week of our wedding. There would be no replacement. We were told they would probably send a Lincoln in its place if that happened. And I didn`t want to take the chance of that happening. We also checked out M&V Limo, also on the house list at JAs and had a similar problem. We were told they have shows with all their cars. I asked about the Rolls, and they said it would be there. Well, we got there and found it was in the shop, being repainted. So we left and never called back. Basically, we should have listened to friends of ours who were married almost 2 years ago instead of trying to stick closer to home with the limos. Royalty treated us great when we met with them, and we now know of two more couples who have used them .. and all three couple were happy with them. They have also received lots of praise from this site too. Hope this helps. John Anthonys ... vendors (long also)
Hey, Kel. Thanks again for your post. We have the same rooms booked as you - cocktail hour in the side room - dinner upstairs in the Majestic Bay Room. I haven't booked any vendors - was waiting for the Expo @ JA's to do the research. I was thinking of using Cassarino photography- they were recommended to me by a good friend as well as by the hall. I've also heard good things about Royalty Limo. (have a friend who is using them for their wedding.) My biggest concerns really are the florist, music & dress. We are opting for a DJ to cut costs though I would have preferred a band. We liked the idea of the steel drum band during cocktail hr. as suggested by the banquet mgr - thanks for your suggestions - we will call your DJ for a tape.... I am also looking for my dress - did you have good experience with bridal suite of bayshore? Thanks once again....:)

Bridal Suite of Bay Shore - highly recommend them
Yes, I did have good experiences with Bridal Suite of Bay Shore, not only for my dress, but also for the girls` dresses as well. I`ve told this story before, but I had seen a picture of a dress I wanted. Bridal Suite of Bay Shore had the best offer .. they were going to order it for me to try (since no place on LI had it to try on). All I had to do was leave something like a $100 deposit, which would be transferable if I didn`t like the dress on me. Anyway, when my sister-in-law (matron of honor) and I went there to order that dress and have her try stuff on, she and Maryellen said I should try a couple of dresses, just for the heck of it. Well, Maryellen picked a couple for me to try, and the very first one was it! As for the girls, Bridal Suite was great in getting the order in on their dresses. The designer was gearing up to discontinue the style in a matter of days. Fortunately all the measurements had already been taken, and Bridal Suite was able to get the order in just under the wire. Gina has been great. She`s the one who really helped in getting the girls dresses, and the flowergirl dress, which was a replica made from the design of the bridesmaid dress. It came out beautiful. She has been the one I talk to with any of my question or concerns, and was exceptionally patient in helping me find the exact undergarment which works best under my gown. There have also been so many other little things along the way as well. I really can`t say enough of how much I appreciate how helpful she`s been. It`s very hard to find someone like that in a service oriented industry, even though that is what their job calls for. But, like in any job, there are some who just really excel.

John Anthonys website
http://www.johnanthonys.com They are in the process of upgrading their website. They just completed even more renovations there over this past winter. We booked them before they started, so I saw the place before, and have been there several times through the process into its completion .. and the place looks amazing! It was beautiful before, but now it`s even more outstanding!Welcome New Vendors
