FYI - My SIL just said that she heard John Anthony's is going bankrupt as of 9/1?????????????
Has anyone heard of this???? I'm hoping this is just a rumor...Just want to make you aware, just in case...

I just called them up and told them that I could not be stressed out over all that is going on. It was causing problems within my family. I faxed over a letter saying I was cancelling my wedding and the next day I went down and picked up a check. I got everything back. Now I have no worries.

H i Girls as you can see i am a JA bride??? and i am worried to death i really want to stay but how did the CB and the Jerico trerrace girls get those places to match the quote they received at JA??? who did you speak to? I would appreciate any info... its sooo stressful hearing this and looking for houses any suggestions?

I was a JA's bride too and am now booked somewhere else. I didn't want to leave either because I love JA's but I thought it was the best thing to do for me to do. There are a lot of places that will match or come close to JA's price - CB, Jericho Terrace, Larkfield Manor, Fox Hollow, Westbury Manor, Woodbury Country Club - when you shop around for quotes, explain to them that you are currently booked somewhere else but may have to change. They usually know which place you're booked at but if not they ask you and many are very accomodating trying to get you a similar price.
CB was absolutely wonderful about the whole thing, was even willing to let me change my date because my father was sick and through in some extras that I would have had to pay for at JA's. Plus they matched my price. If you decide to look there, speak to Tom. He was such a sweetheart...
I love John Anthony's too. But I love ME more and I let myself stress over the JA's situation for less than a month, but it still seemed too long. You need to do what's right for you...
NRC was also very accomodating (and beautiful), Bridgeview, The Metropolitan, and Crest HOllow Country CLub.
Hmmm...what ever happened to IRISHBRIDE2005? I guess she had to get back to work...

Just to let you know.. Woodbury Country Club did not match my price from JA's. BUT, that is because I didn't even bother to mention it. It was only a little more $ but I just felt that I couldn't ask them to lower the price (but that's just me because I hate to haggle.. I'm not good at it).

Ladies, this is the scoop I have. I was interested in Harbor Club, which is owned by the same people who own John Anthonys, and I heard the same rumors so I started asking around. I heard from several banquet directors of other catering halls that the owner of these and other restaurants like Coco's, died. His children do not want to continue the businesses and are selling them. I have a friend who's dad is a manager at the Watermill (owned by Scotto family). He said the Scotto bros put bids on both halls and already lost the Harbor Club to some big corporation and that John Anthonys wasn't decided yet. But, not matter what, both places have to honor contracts signed before the selling and if JOhn Anthonys became part of the Scotto Bros empire, it would remain a catering hall, but probably have major renovations. That's the scoop as I know it. Hope that helps.

I really hope JAs is not on this site pretending to be brides. It really makes them look bad.
I had my wedding there 2 months ago and it was truly AMAZING!! Every second of it. I'm so sorry to the ladies who won't have the same wonderful experience there.
As for bancrupcy, I don't blame you girls at all. While I think this place gives the best weddings out there, I understand your concern and probably would have changed places too.
I hope it all gets resolved for them soon and I hope each of you ladies that had to cahnge locations has the most wonderful wedding of your lives
I loved JOhn Anthony's and still do. I picked all of my colors around the upstairs room includign my invitations and gowns. ANd I wanted that Candy Cart so badly!
BUt in a way, I feel like everything happens for a reason. And teh room at CB is much bigger which was a plus for me. I was cutting it close to the maximum capacity.

yeah, I definitly think there are JA worker's on this pretending - at least the Irish bride anyway..
Before I made the move, I was extremely depressed. I had alot goign on, my sister and I were on a mission searching for anotehr possible place, and I was convinced I wouldn't like CB. I was wrong. Yes I lost some money beacsue of teh invitations and stuff, but I know I made teh right decision FOR ME! It's all up to you. Now I am very happy about it. But when I went to get my money back, I was hugging Phylis beacsue I was so depressed over it!
