John Anthony's Christening....

John Anthony's Christening....

Well it was a long, but fun and beautiful day !!

The sun was bright, and there was this cool, fresh spring breeze...

Church was at 1pm. John Anthony had slept almost all morning, so he was well fed, well rested, and had a clean diaper ! He was in a great mood going to church, giggling and cooing in the car. He gave Debbie (Bearsbabe) a grin from ear to ear, he must have known she was mommys buddy from LIW !) He fell asleep again in church. He slept through the Baptism, and just rubbed his head when he felt the water being poured on him (as he slept !!)

From about 2:30-4:30, there were about 40 of us at my house. Our dinner was for 5pm, thats the only time slot they had (Papa Joe's). Then to get everyone out of the house was a chore in itself, some joked about me being a wise guy kicking people out, lol. But sure enough we got to Papa Joe's and relatives were waiting for US, exactly what I wanted NOT to happen . We were on time but they were just early...awe...

Anyway, John Anthony got really cranky and fussy for the rest of the day. He's in the heart of teething season, and he's been on hunger strikes and then eats and drinks like its his last meal.
My poor baby. . I wish I could take the pain away. Baby Orajel and Tylenol dont even work well enough sometimes. (Debbie - the Dr. Said NO to Humphreys Maybe because of his age ? Under 6 months ??) My MIL also strongly suggested it, but we'll go with Dr's orders for now.

At the restaurant it was 65 of us, so it was a little more noise and hustle and bustle than my little boy is used to. Everyone wanted to hold him, smooch him, etc. I love sharing him and passing him around, but it just became too much for him. My BIL, John Anthony's Godfather, played the 'human swing' and he rocked the carseat until he conked out. So JA was asleep for most of the party. And when he was awake he was red, flustered, sweaty, crying and in pain. We fed him, changed him, took him for a walk to another room where it was less stimulation, but he just need the sleep I guess.

The dinner was EXCELLENT. Round of applause AGAIN for Papa Joes. Our servers were phenomenal, the food was DELICIOUS, Anthony and Cathy were a pleasure to work with.

We got home at about 9:30pm and he was in full screams. He took 2 bottles in a row and was out for the night...

I highly recommend Papa Joe's to anyone in Suffolk, I will definately use them again if I have another party!

Here are a few pictures, just to get started...
I have more to upload, so there will be more to come

Thanks for asking about it, and for letting me share!

I'm going to ask my friend how old her kids were when she started giving them the humphreys! Every dr tells you a different story! I hope his teeth feel better soon!!!

Anna, congratulations! I'm glad it was such a beautiful day and sorry John Anthony's teeth are bothering him!! Your pictures are beautiful. His christening outfit looks gorgeous. Did he wear just the little suit or did he have a gown for the church?

Re: John Anthony's Christening....

Thanks everyone !

Lee-that was his outfit. He didnt have a gown. I know some boys still wear gowns, which is really cute ! Or are you referring to a gown in addition to the outfit ?

He had a sweater but didnt need to wear it !

Stace - But of course !! :) we still have our 'Dress alike' days on special occassions

If it were up to me, she can baptize all my future children too, choosing Godparents becomes too complicated and whats politically correct and who 'should' you pick and who WILL you pick...

But Im sure we'll play along and pick others to baptize our future children.......
