Joining Bank Accounts

Did you join bank accounts before you got married?

Do you plan to keep separate accounts and a shared account once you are married?

we have our own, plus one joint one now...but we have like no money in the joint one...lol...the money goes faster than we can deposit it.

We have a joint checking and savings, and both of us have our individual checking and savings.

We have a joint savings but seperate checking accounts. Checking in with each other before transferring money to savings or paying bills might get complicated. So we plan on keeping it this way, we're used to it.

But both of us can transfer money from our individual checking accts to our shared savings account and vice versa.

we have a joint...and we both have sep. ones. he doesn't use his sep. one..and it likely has $2 in it...i use mine because there's no delay for my paycheck unlike the joint bank where ALL checks wait a week.

i will add him to mine after the wedding...figure since i'll have to order a new card, i might as well wait until i'm changing my name

This actually scares me because FH isn't too good with money. We currently live together. All bills get paid from my checking account and he gives me money to deposit.

After we get married though, we will keep separate checking accounts and open one joint one. We'll both deposit into the joint one and it will be for joint bills only for now. So things like my gym membership will come out of my checking account and his student loans will come from his. I figure that's a good start - we'll see where it goes from there.

Before we were married we did not have a joint account.

Now, since married we have a joint account and still have our seperate accounts. It just works for us now...we do not own a house and just split the bills - like I pay phone, cell...he pays renters & car insurance, etc. The joint account has most if not all of the money we rec'd from the wedding in it. We do nothing with that money. It just sits. Once we do buy a house together we still plan on keeping my account because it's with a credit union upstate that I've had before I even existed and the rate are fantastic.

We joined bank accts. obiviously before marriage.
We plan on having just a joint acct. together. No separate accounts. It makes life easier for us. some don't mind having separate accts... I personally feel that we're getting married and being that we're 'joining forces' we are considered one.. yes two separate individuals but we're on the same team!

We joined our bank accounts before the wedding-when we got our apartment. We have joint checking and savings. No individual accounts. It works out just fine.

We opened a joint account right away and started depositing all of our money in there to pay for the wedding. We both have our own checking accounts and I have my own savings, which is down to pratically nothing since I just bought a car. But I will keep it open for emergencies or to save for something that may be a surprise in the future.

we got a joint account when we got engaged, thats only wedding money right now, we both still have our own personal checking accounts and will keep them after marriage, i feel you do need some seperate money, what about when you want to buy each other gifts, or when i go shopping, he doesn't always need to know what i spend, i work hard for my money, as does he

We will have one joint account -savings and checking and 2 separate savings accounts.

We have jonit checking and savings as well as our 'own' checking account. We use that for our frivolous purchases, and gifts for each other.

We have separate checking accounts as we did before we were married, and I don't see any reason to combine them. In fact they're at different banks and that's fine for us!!

He doesn't have a savings account but I do, so I'll be adding his name to it and we'll save together.
