i thought it was going to be a pita to open this. we brought all this paperwork with us and they didnt need shiit !!! i guess it helped that we both have a/c with chase.
i say 85percent of the check were made out to mr & mrs fatthead.

It probably is...we opened ours when we moved in together because we pay all our bills out of there, then we each have our own accounts...we put a percentage of each paycheck in the joint and keep the leftovers for our own personal stuff.
Anything that is for the family we use the joint...anything that we want for ourselves we use our personal.

We opened a joint account when we moved in together to pay the bills out of. However, when we bought a house together, we just combined everything into one account, its been like that for over a year now and honestly it works better for us then having a joint plus an extra account for each of us.

I guess Fh and I are weird too...that is what we are doing, too. Probably just open an account to deposit our wedding checks. We are keeping our own separate accounts separate, that way if i want to splurge on myself I can do it without asking him if i can.

We are probably not the norm. We had a very short engagement and a few months into it/a few months before the wedding we closed out individual accounts and opened joint accounts. We're also additional cardholders on each others credit accounts. The only thing that we keep separate is our business accounts, as we have separate ownership.

We actually opened up a joint account before we were even living together or engaged. Once we made the decision that we wanted to move in together, we opened it and started saving up for our apartment and stuff for our apartment. A few months later is when we finally moved in. We pay our separate bills - the joint account is mainly to save money and to pay for our insurance.
