Joint Checking Account

Joint Checking Account

We're going to start one today to deposit all of our wedding money in to. Which bank do you recommend? Which type of account do you recommend? My mom also recommended getting a few CD's so that we make a lil money and aren't tempted to spend it!

Personally I love chase, we have one in Commerce and one in Chase and I feel that Chase is more user friendly and more accessible.

What banks do you & fh use now ? See what they will offer you. Teachers Federal Credit Union gave us some really nice perks. Your mom's idea about opening CDs is a great idea. You'll gain some nice interest and can range the dates anywhere from 3 - 12 months.

We have a joint checking in Commerce only because FH thought his job wouldn't do direct deposit into other banks (this is how it used to be but it changed). I wish we knew that before we opened it because I would prefer to have gone through my bank - Bank of America.

I use People's right now for my checking and savings account. FH uses a local credit union. FH is a teacher, how do we go about looking in to the Teachers Federal Credit Union? FH wants WaMu just because he likes to say WaMu!!!!!!!

My issue with NEFCU is that they do not have 24 hour customer service. They also limit the amount you can spend on your debit card and withdrawals. It's a lot less than what most other banks give you. So basically if you want to buy something over $1000 on a Saturday you can't because your limit is $1k and you can't call to talk to someone! FH has had this problem one too many times!

I use Citibank. I love their online banking. IMO i would not put my money into CD's. The rates are terrible. It's almost not worth it.

Ditto! That and I have all my accounts linked so it's easy to transfer money around online.

FH and I opened one w/ Wachovia, only because that was convienent for both of us. We just have a regular checking w/ check cards. We've been trying to save and deposit as much as we can over the past few months. It has been really convenient when booking and paying for wedding vendors and related items

It depends on what each bank offers. I went for FREE checking and I would make sure there are no hidden fees. You also want to choose a bank that is convenient (proximity and large number of locations)

definitely get a free checking account, it is pointless to pay fees when there are so many free ones out there.

I have a checking account @ HSBC which I have had since H.S., their online banking s u c k s, but they give a lot of good benefits. I also have a WAMU checking/savings which I highly recommend, they are gr8....we have a joint savings @ ING.
