Jordan Almonds... Whats the deal?

Jordan Almonds... Whats the deal?

Ok, I am being told me my FMIL and FGMIL that I HAVE to do Jordan almonds. Its just tradition. I am ok with that, but now they are telling me that I have to have them in tulle, and I cant have them in organza bags. Is there a rule to this madness? Or are they just busting my chops?
TIA

Hmmm...well I've never heard of such a rule but we had them for our wedding (DH is greek and I am italian and they are big in both cultures) and I put them in tulle just because I thought it looked better...it was a matter of personal opinion and noone said anything one way or the other

hmm i dont think it matters what you put them in but to be honest i just googled them and it always says tulle - who knows why though? lol

anywho in case you were wondering, the jordan almonds or confetti represents the bitter sweetness of married life ( or life in general i guess)

Five almonds signify five wishes for the bride and groom: health, wealth, happiness, fertility and longevity.

How did you give them out? Did you leave them on everyones place setting? Or did you attach them to the favor?

you can either attach it to the favor or do it separate..

i know its a big thing with Italians, which is why I'll have them at our wedding, even though its in Ireland (gotta represent the other half)

Yes, your mother is correct. I heard of that and it is a tradition. Each almond means something and you have to have 5. I never heard of the tulle deal, but I might be wrong.

Organza can make them sweat & they are sugar based...it would be a mess.

MIL said we had to have them! DH is italian and they believe in almonds for every occasion because its good luck. we had them at the Church as a giveaway with the programs and also they were on top of our wedding favors in a lace bow.

Each almond stands for somethign. I think it is love luck health prosperity and family. I could be wrong. We tied the tulle onto our favours, which were wine/bottle stoppers.

We put our 5 jordan almonds in organza bags and then put the bags in martini glasses and wrapped those in tulle...no probs at all...here is the saying we used:

Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat
To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet.
Five wishes for the new husband and wife --
Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!

ive typically seen them in tulle but i think you should do what you want... almonds are somewhat a tradition, but i dont think they are necessary... good luck
