JoVon Photography

Hi, Can anyone provide any info on this company? I`ve met with them twice - last night I was able to meet one of their photographers (Telmo). Do any of you ladies have any information about them that will help me make my decision? Thank you in advance!!

I used them

We had a great experience with our photographer. She did great work. The studio, I unfortunately can't rave about. We only had one album and although the proofs were in in 6 weeks, it took them a year to get one 8x6 album done for us. They kept on forgetting to place parts of our order, so we got things in piece-meal. I did have to send the 11x14 back because they sent me a pictuer printer on foamcore, with the foam falling out the middle and just a bad print job (NOT a picture). After several calls, JoVon called me back and after I explained what had been sent to me, they sent me what I expected. I've heard other people have had problems with them taking so long to get albums back. Much longer than is the industry standard or even than what their contracts say. If you don't mind putting up with BS after the wedding, you will get a beautiful album. They do nice work, but they certainly take their time and don't have the best customer service.

I have heard similiar issues.

I know someone who used Telmo and were very happy with him and the pictures he took. However, they did have some slight problems with them. They received their video with the wrong bride's name. They fixed it though but I know the bride was annoyed.

My experience

When I met with them at their office in Brookville, we were impressed. Their work is great, and we were enticed by the fact that they told us all developing and such work was done in house, which meant no problems with negatives being lost in shipment, etc. Our photographer would have been Telmo had we booked with them, but we ultimately decided their cost was more than we were willing to afford, even for such a valuable vendor like a photographer. In the end, I think they do beautiful work, but at a starting price of $4000, that was steep (for us at least). We ended up getting a much larger package in terms of pictures and negatives for a lot less, so we were happy.

We are using JoVon

We are using JoVon for our Nov. wedding. To me the pictures and my album were one of the most important aspects of the wedding. I did tons of research and looked at many photographer. We met with JoVon and ended up booking him. Yes, he is outrageously expensive, we were able to get a lot of extra pics thrown into our package. If you want more details, please e-mail me, I'd be more than happy to answer any questions. ([email protected]). Although I can not comment yet about what will happen after the wedding, of the last few people I know that got married, they all had some sort of glitches with their photographers. Plus, I have never heard of anyone getting their album in much less than a year.

JoVon Photography

I was a guest at a wedding with JoVon photographers (I don't know who exactly) and while the pictures came out great, they were very annoying to guests during the reception. It was hard to dance without having the flash on top of you and/or the video person trailing wires behind him. Like I said, everything turned out great, they just seemed to be in the way a lot.

It will ultimately depend on what you want. We haggled and were able to get a lower price. We sacrificed quantity for quality. You will have beautiful pictures. I didn't have video so I can't comment. All my friends who have seen my album ask me for the phtographers name. If you choose them, you'll love the pictures but most likely have to wait. They claim in their contract that album delivery is within 6-9 months of you selecting your pic for album, but like I mentioned earlier, it will more likely be more. Do a search, I'm sure there are other posts about them. Good luck.

We are using Telmo from JoVon

Like the other ladies have posted, we chose them for their beautiful work. They are expensive, but we felt their work was the best(and we saw a lot!) and worth it.As far as the other issues go- I heard these complaints before, and I contacted the office myself. They assured me that they will do their best to produce the albums ASAP, they also said that the reason the albums can take a while is becuase the couples don't pick out their proofs in a timely manner. You need to feel 100% comfortable with your photographer, and we do. Overall the choice is yours, if you love their work and are willing to accept a potentially longer wait for your album go for it!Also, keep in mind with any vendor there may be problems, you never know. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions. Continued success to all... PS we didn't meet w/ Telmo personally, we went strickly on his work. How did you like him? Personality? We are planning on going for the engagement shoot in the spring(we already had our engagement pics done by June Jacobson, but want to see how we mesh).

Thanks everyone!!...

Thank you all for your honest and detailed responses. I really appreciate it!! I, like the other brides using JoVon, fell in love with the quality of their work and I guess I`m willing to deal with some BS after the wedding if it means my pics will be beautiful. Heather - Telmo was great. He`s very sweet and it seemed like he will be a lot of fun to work with. You`re in good hands. Good luck at your engagement shoot - let me know how it goes. Thank you all again!! These boards are a great resource.
