Jr BM question

Jr BM question

Ok my BM dresses are Bill Levkoff style #456 which has a layer of tulle over it. BM dress

the color will be Euro Royal Blue with a pink sash.

I was going to get the junior BM the same style BUT i was talking to the lady today and she reminded me that the dress has boning in it and wont be appropriate for a ten year old SO i was going to get Jr BM dress #95002 Jr BM dress
also in Euro Royal Blue with a pink sash.- this dress is satin

my mom thinks that i should get a dress that is the same material even if the style isnt the same. I think the style is more important. I understand that the different material will make the color look a little different but i dont think it will be that big of a deal. What do you think?

Please note that the BM dress has TULLE over it which is going to be hard to find so my mom suggested at least going with chiffon.

ETA the links dont work so if you are feeling helpful just go to the site and search for 456 under COLLECTION or 95002 under JUNIOR BM

My opinion I think they should match. I wouldn't worry about the material. I agree with you that the style should match.

Re: Jr BM question

why not see if they can take to boning out??

I am having a JBM and I want her to have the same dress but i am going to have them add spaghetti straps.

For my own taste, I agree with your Mom. I have a Jr. BM, and what we're most likely going to do is order additional material from the same dye lot for my dresses and have something custom made for her. But, you have tulle, so maybe that would be too complicated. If you're not going to be able to get the exact material, then I'd go for the closest possible style match.

Re: Jr BM question

i agree with u'r mom.. the fabrics should match.. i'd also try to see if u can have the bonin taken out or order additional fabric and take it to a dress maker to be made in a similiar style..

Re: Jr BM question

Personally, i think that the color should match rather than the style of the dress itself. It is common to have different dresses for the Jr BM mostly because the BM dresses are usually too mature for the young girls. As long as the dresses are the same material by the same designer, it will match in color.
I had Bill Levkoff dresses and my Jr BM had different dresses, same material and colors though.
Unless you want to go with a different color all together for the Jr. BM, then it won't matter. If you do stick to the same color though....it will look very different if the material isn't the same.

I think your mom has a good idea with the chiffon since it won't stand out too much from the BM dresses that have tulle.

Good luck!

Re: Jr BM question

i'm not quite sure why the dress wouldnt be appropriate for a 12 year old.
I have a 12 year old in my bridal party as well, and was told she's going to need to wear a regular bridesmaid dress and she can wear the same style as the bridesmaids as long as i don't pick out something super sexy.
your bridesmaid dress is really cute, and not super sexy at all. i dont understand why it's innapropriate.

i also have an 8 year old junior bridesmaid and i would put her in the same dress as well...

that's just me though.

i think the color is more important than the exact style. color is everything to me though.

yeah well my first choice is that she wears the BM dress - but the dress does not come in a Junior style. . .so since it has boning in it - it will actually have 'boobs' already in the dress. . . so that will not be appropriate for a little girl. . .

my first choice is that a 0 is altered down to her size and we will put straps on ( bc she has no boobs to hold it up lol) so if they cant do that i need a backup!

THANK YOU everyone for your suggestions
argh this is so confusing and what makes it worse is that i am so OVER wedding planning that i really don't care anymore. . .

okay, that makes more sense. i didnt think about the fact that it would have 'boobs' built in.
My seamstress said the dresses with boning could most likely be made to fit a young girl. it might cost a little extra on the alterations, but could be done.

good luck!

Re: Jr BM question

truthfully they are JRBMs so they dont have to be a perfect match...my jr bm are wearing an entirely different color. My bm dresses are black and white and i didnt feel it was appropriate to but a 7 & 11 year oldin black dresses so they are wearing apple red....and im going to bring all the colors together in the bouquets...........thats JMO though and you should do whatever you want.......its your wedding and you should let your style and taste show!!
