Can my 12 year old Jr bridemaid walk down the aisle with one of the groomsmen?? FH has more guys then I have girls so I thought maybe she can walk with someone. She is very mature for her age and doesn't even look 12. (she is my height! ) and the guy she will be walking with is my FH best friend. What do you ladies think? I know it's not the norm to have a 12 year old walk with a groomsman, but I also don't really see why not either. she has known the guy all of her life. He's pretty much like an uncle to her.

Re: Jr Bridemaid question...
i think that is fine. there are no rules about who walks with who down the aisle. when i was 14 i walked down w/an older man at my cousins wedding. i think it will look fine.

Don't worry if you have an odd # of guys and girls. You can have 2 guys walk with one of your girls and let the 12 yr. old walk by herself

Yeah, I'm not sure how that would look. I'm in the exact same boat. FH has more GM than I do BM's. And my JR BM is my 12 yr old cousin. I thought a few times about having her walk down with someone-since the numbers would then be even but I think it might look a little wrong. If we were to have her walk with someone-(which we prob. won't be), than it would be my brother-who is obviously her cousin too. Otherwise, I'm going to have two BM's with one GM. :)

Same here! I thank god that fh has 2 nieces and 1 nephew who will by my jr bm's and jr gm so i can have the 3 of them walk down together and my lil nephew will look like a lil pimp with a gurl on each arm hahahahha

Re: Jr Bridemaid question...
My cousin is the same age, she is actually walking the flower girls down the isle. She's shy and actually ASKED if she could do that - probably to avoid walking with a guy. Ha ha!

I wouldnt have her walk down with a GM. Even though she looks older i still dont think it would be a good idea.

I agreee that it is odd. The only way I would think it would be ok if she was walking down with her brother or something like that.

im not sure. i wanted to have my 15 year old cousin but everyone said it might be weird to have her with a 26 year old guy.

Re: Jr Bridemaid question...
I guess I'm alone in this.. but I don't see why it would be odd/wrong/weird to have her walk with an older man. It's not as if she's his date. She's just walking down the aisle. When I was 14 I walked down the aisle with an older guy, he is a very close friend of the family and I considered him a brother.
I don't think it's inappropriate at all. My bridal party is not even. We have two best men and a ring bearer on FH's side and 2 MOHs, 1BM, 2BM and 1FG on my side. If the numbers were even I'd have no problem letting the younger girls walk with one of the GM. I have never been to a wedding and been like 'Ummm that's so innapropriate' when a JBM walked with a GM.
They do not have to dance at the reception if you don't want them to. I can understand that might be a little weird. But the aisle... go for it if you want to.

Thanks ladies, it seems as if your either ok with it or not. Not much grey area! Maybe I'll ask her parents (FH sister) to see how they feel about it. If they are ok with it I can't see why anyone else's opinion matters, right?

That's a good approach. Talk to them, and maybe talk to her too. If they are all comfortable with it...then who the heck cares?

I don't think it would be a problem. She might be uncomfortable walking with someone older that isn't someone she knows very well and the same for the GM.
