Probably good for the 9yr old but I don't think its appropriate for a six year old unless it had a power-ranger on it or something! Even the 9yr old would probably appreciate something a little more 'fun' than a watch. Of course, I'm just basing this info on my nephew who is seven and very very into his gameboy but I'm sure he's not the most mature kid out there!
IMO I think the watch is def. too old for the 6 yr old. for my 6 yr old nephew/RB I got the engraved silver plated train bank. although I probably could have gotten something more fun, but it will be a keepsake and the kid has everything!
