JT Brides Past or Present

JT Brides Past or Present

I'm going to try not to ramble for too long.

So I tried contacting a young lady who had a review from '06 but I think that was a long shot because she clearly has moved on to the wonderful world of marriage. Anwayz she got married at JT and stated that since she couldn't make her minimum she had upgrades to the alcohol menu, linens and a few other things.

Soooo I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this strategy to save on not making their minimum or save money if they had to lower their minimum guarantee.

I feel like I was still on my engagement high when giving JT my minimum and I know I got the price I wanted based on the number I gave. I asked what would happened if I lowered the number and my BMgr said they would have to raise the price per head. With the way the economy is going I'm beginning to realize I am in over my head. I am trying my best to downgrade with flowers, limo, stationary etc. So any advice as to the issue would be greatly appreciated. I am planning to speak to my BMgr in few weeks before our next payment.

Thanks ladies. Sorry for being so long.

yes they do this and not only JT but many other RH's add extras if you are below your minimum to make up for it.

I was just a little under my minimum and they threw things in to make up for it.

So it would obviously be things that they provide? (drinks, chocolate fountain, etc) When did you have this conversation and how did it all work out?
I feel uncomfortable sometimes about these things because all I am to these people is another paycheck and I don't want to spoil anything for my day by going back and forth with pricing. Thanks for the help.

well i didnt know i was going to be under my minimum until 2 weeks before so thats when this came up when i went in for final appointment. I told them my final headcount and my maitre'd is the one who said he will throw things in without me asking. As far as drinks, its full open bar so not like there will be extra alcohol, but they did throw in a martini bar for us during CH, so as far as alcohol they can do that. We had already booked for VH so had the chocolate fountain included, but i am sure they can throw this in if you dont have VH.

They told me when they gave us the minimum (which is only 160 so we should make it) they'd make it up for us if we didnt make it w/ extras

You have FH...and they told me what they told you- that they would have to raise the price anddddd to include my vendors in our head-count.

is this something very new that they do? that is weird, why would they raise the price if youre below your minimum. I mean youre already losing out on money by paying for more guests than you would already have so why raise the price

That doesn't make sense that they would raise the price if you are below your minimum. We could potentially be below our minimum by a few people but I was not stressing about it because I saw that other brides had things thrown in for them. I hope this is not an issue.

How far below the minimum are you? Maybe if it is like 25 people, then they change the price per person but if it is like 5 people or so, they probably just throw in a few extras.

i think she means that before you book you have two choices (this is kind of what happened to us)

either

175 person minimum at 125pp

OR

200 person minimum at 110 pp

so the higher your minimum the less you pay per person - if you lower your minimum you pay more person - see how 200 people would only be 110pp but 175 people would bring the price up to 125pp BUT if you do the math they both come out to about the same thing....

they told me that the 'room' has to generate a certain amount of money per night (and each room is different, and depending on the night it differs) so they can lower the minimum for you but they'll be charging you more money per person to cover the room cost for that night...

that is what was explained to us....we wanted a lower minimum for the dome room and used the fact that it was december and friday to try and negotiate - we wanted a 150 person minimum but we ended up with 175 person minimum for what i thought was a decent price for all the things we are getting - still def expensive but i felt it was fair (i guess )....

oh so before you even book, ok that makes more sense now. Bc after you book and have a set price and then find out that you will be below minimum and pay for extra plates, i thought it'd be mess up to all of a sudden charge more.

Yeah they told me the same thing about each room they have to book it for a certain amount and cant go below it.
