Thanks. I know it will be very hard. It just takes so much out of me to drive all that way back and forth. I am certified in common branch, early childhood and technology. Hopefully I can at the very least take a long term sub position.

Oh yea, if you dont mind starting as a leave replacement! You'll get something.
I'm with you , the commute has taken everything out of me! I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

I don't mind starting that way, but I am worried about a few things. 1) health benefits 2) paying for our wedding 3) having no job when we start looking for a house and being turned down for a mortgage

Stolen from 07 board...for my fellow teachers
You might be a teacher if...
..you believe the playground should be equipped with a Ritalin salt lick.
..you want to slap the next person who says, 'Must be nice to work 8 to 3:30 and have summers off.'
..it is difficult to name your own child because there's no name you can come up with that doesn't bring high blood pressure as it is uttered.
..you can tell it's a full moon without ever looking outside.
..you believe 'shallow gene pool' should have its own box on a report card.
..you believe that unspeakable evils will befall you if anyone says, 'Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.'
..when out in public, you feel the urge to snap your fingers at children you do not know and correct their behavior.
...you have no social life between August and June.
..you think people should have a government permit before being allowed to reproduce.
..you wonder how some parents MANAGED to reproduce!
..you laugh uncontrollably when people refer to the staff room as the 'lounge.'
..you encourage an obnoxious parent to check into charter schools or home schooling.
..you think caffeine should be available in intravenous form
..meeting a child's parent instantly answers the question, 'Why is this kid like this?'
just thought I'd try to give everyone a laugh!

I am a teacher. I refused to get married in the summer. Too hot for me. WE chose april I will take my personal days and relax the day before and that mon/tues. Then we will take our mini-Honeymoon over passover break(a week later). Then we are going to take a big honeymoon in the summer to hawaii!

April was another option because of the break, but we have a family wedding in May, so we would have had to wait another year then.

I have a lot of family coming from Italy so the summer was definitely a better choice for that too!

High school Spanish teacher here!! FH really wanted to get married in September (I know the weather is ideal!!!) but it is impossible to take off the 1st month of school.
I'm a high school Spanish teacher too!
We wanted a June wedding for the weather (we're having a 'wedding weekend' in Connecticut with lots of outside activities), and chose June 14 because Monday the 16th is the last day with the students, so it's practically summer vacation anyway (gotta LOVE Regents Week!).
So... so far we have our RH. Going to look for photographers next - I'm panicking that I'll fall in love with one, and that he/she will be all booked up. It's so hard though, without LIW recommendations!

We thought about that also, but fh is not a teacher, he's a mortgage broker and the one thing he wanted was to be able to go on our honeymoon after the wedding, so I had to give that to him.

Re: July 08 thread
June 14th was the date I wanted because it will be our 5 year anniversary. Since I teach elementary school, I would have another 2 weeks to go after. I picked our date because I have some time off before our wedding to get everything together. I am a nervous nellie so I am not good with pressure.

I'm a July 08 bride too! And I am also a teacher. We picked July nto only because of my schedule, but we both have family coming from out of state and the summer is more flexible for people.

Re: July 08 thread
I wanted that date june 28,2008 but since i'm a teacher and I would be finishing work that wednesday. I didn't think it would give me enough time. I'm happy with July. I still have time to relax before I go back to work.
