How do you feel about a July 4th wedding. In 2008 it's a Friday. So we would have the rehearsal on Thursday night and wedding on Friday.
I'm nervous that people won't show because of the holiday 3-day weekend that my wedding would be interrupting. I know it is about me and my FH and it is our decision, but at the same time, we have to guarantee 150 and we may not be able to do that if a lot of people don't show.
If we dont do it July 4th, we will be moving it to November 1st or 8th.
Please any suggestions will be welcomed.

If circumstances were different for FH and I, then I would have wanted to get married on July 4th also, it's when we had out first kiss....I do recommend sending STDs early!....lots of people go away for the holiday and make arrangments far in advance

we booked that day...and the fam couldn't be happier because it makes traveling easier...eveyone has a three day weekend!!!

My cousin got married some years ago on the 4th of July. I don't remember exactly what day of the week it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a weekend, or extended weekend. It was a daytime wedding in NJ and I was home on Long Island before it was dark. It was a lovely wedding, with huge turnout. I can't imagine that very many people didn't come because of the date, the place was packed--easily 150, maybe more like 200 people. I think that a Friday, July 4th wedding would work quite well--that way, most people still have the rest of the weekend if they want to do something else!

im a july 4th wedding!! ...and i guaranteed 275 guests, and iniviting 325... alot of ppl definately said they would make it, i have lots of family n friends, plus some ppl make a a long-weekend out of it n so forth...
thats the day me n FH first met...so i sent out STD's in advance... i recommend it

Yeah it's the date that we became 'official' in 2000. We have been together for 6 1/2 years and our anniversary has ALWAYS been July 4th!

My friend got married on july 4..a couple years ago. It was awesome... she was getting married in pa and had guests comign from all over.. Everyone was able to come because of the three day weekend... it was a great time and I would definitely think it would be great..

I had my wedding the saturday of 4th of july weekend... it was good because lots of people had long weekends and it was great for OOTers(which we had a lot of)

I think 9 or 10 months in advance would be good.
Oh and I think a 4th of July wedding is awesome!!! Don't worry about it, that's a great date for a wedding!!!

I wouldnt mine it. I would definitely send out STDs though, a friend of ours got married that weekend and alot of people already had travel plans

i am getting married July 3 this year .. its a tuesday night so they have the next day off .. i had to pick a day that was good for me and fh .. so if family and friends want to see us get married they will be there if not then they miss a wonderful time ... jmo - i can't stress over worrying about what others will think of the day i pick ..

i think july 4th is a great idea for a wedding. that is my favorite day of the year- dh and i got engaged on july 4th and then had our wedding on july2!

I am a July 3 of this year and I love it. Everyone is off the next day and I have gotten nothing but praise and people telling me how cool it is to have it that day. If people want to go away and barbeque instead of going to your wedding, you have to ask yourself 'do you really want them there?'

we did ours at the year mark...it was helpful to those who did not already know, esp. if they needed to book planes and such

i would say to do it, just about everyone is off work that day, and then they have the rest of the weekend for travels or parties-whatever!
