Jumping

Hi girls, I have a beautiful 2 year old dog. She is a italian greyhound / dachsund (sp) mix. The problem we have is that she jumps on everyone. She seems to scare little kids with her jumping. How can we get her to stop doing this? TIA

We have a boxer who jumped on everyone and our dog trainer had us use a squirt bottle. He stopped jumping within a week. Just make sure its on spray not mist.

Squirt bottles work well with jumping, barking, and all sorts of doggie issues!!

We use the squirt bottle, too. All we do is show it it to our dog. After only a few times, he learned what it does and he does not need to be sprayed! We have a trainer who believes that we should not have to rely on anything. He says that the bottle is ok at first, but you should be able to train your dog to listen to you, even if you don't have any device like a bottle handy. I guess that will come with time. Our dog is a dachshund and they can be very stubborn. He is smart though. He knows what we want him to do, but he often does not feel like it.

Have you posted a pic of your dog? I'd love to see it. I love dachshund and dachshund mixes. There is even a dachshund-beagle in my neighborhood!

ETA--I checked your profile. Is that the dachsie-ital. greyhound in the pink blanket?

Yes, we actually think she is a italian greyhound / min pin mix....who knows, she is a pound puppy.
