Lots! it's so sad. But, we only booked a June 3rd wedding on Dec 9th, before that we were more thinking of September. We got engaged on November 1st, and at first I was thinking 'summer.' Then my fiance's mom, who was ill with breast cancer, asked us to hold it until later in September so she could recover and enjoy the wedding. Of course we told her yes. Then, sadly, she passed away on Thanksgiving. We were unsure if she really would be recovered by September, but we weren't expecting her to pass away that quickly. It's so sad.
Anyway, we started looking for a site in early December, and my fiance suddenly said, 'you know, we could do May if we wanted.' It was true, it would be a rush, but we could. We asked about May at Timber Point, and they didn't have a date, but they did have June 3rd, so we booked it!
So what do we have done? We have a venue. It was too hard to do wedding planning and Christmas 'everything' at the same time. Shopping, parties, decorating, etc. Now that Christmas is over, I went dress shopping yesterday, and I'm going to do my Save-the-Dates this week. I've mostly picked out my attendants dresses. We get centerpieces in the TP package, and a cake too, and I have to go talk to both of them--however, I'm thinking of doing the flowers myself and getting credited for the florist's contribution.
We need: a DJ, although we have a good friend who is a LI musician, and he's helping us. Unfortunately, he's also going through a family emergency, his MiL is dying of cancer. (Too much much cancer around!) We're not getting a limo, as we're on a tight budget and we're having the ceremony and the reception at the same site. We're not renting tuxes, the men are wearing suits, and will wait until the spring lines come in to shop. I've chosen the invites--again, I'm doing them myself, but I know what I'm doing. What else am I missing?
