Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

Here's my bridesmaids' dresses (but in black, not navy):

Can I have my junior bridesmaid wear black too? Or do I have her wear something similar to my color (blush) with black details (ribbons, etc.)?

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

I think it's entirely up to you.. I think only the flower girl(s) should be dressed like you (colorwise anyway) now, Are your bm's wearing the dress with the cover up? or just the strapless?

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

It comes with the jacket. One of my bridesmaids (my closest friend & cousin) is a bit heavier, so I was looking for dresses that she would be comfortable in, but yet youthful enough for the other girls who are all on the skinny & young side. I figure for the formal portraits, all the girls except my sister (MOH) can wear the jacket, that way my sister stands out a little bit more.

I don't have any flowers girls, just the JBM and she'll be 11 at the time of the wedding. I've just never seen a young girl wear black in a wedding party. For some reason it doesn't seem right!?!

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

I wouldn't put a young girl in a black strapless gown. I think you should get her a tank style in the same Navy fabric. I think a black strapless dress is for an older girl, 16+.

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

I was a junior BM once (years ago) I wore the same dress as the other BM. I believe only flower girls should match the bride and junior BM should match the BM. But since it is strapless, I would see if they could add a strap to it (not a spaghetti strap, but one about and inch thick). Most designers would be willing to do that.

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

Michele,
put the JBM in navy even though the rest of the party is in black?

I definitely wouldn't put her in a strapless!!! Tank or with some kind of sleeve definitely.

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

Her color should match the rest of the BMs. Black is fine for a joung girl, but definitely give her straps.

Re: Junior Bridesmaid dress question?

Ok...I feel better now knowing that I'm not commiting a sin (whether it be mortal or fashion) by having my JBM wear black!

Thanks girls!!!
