Oh, def keep calling - you're gonna get called in - it took me over a week and I kept forgetting to call. The day I was called in I had forget to check when they needed me... luckily I checked at like 9am and I had to be there at 1pm.
Don't forget to call and hang out on LIW all day!

Re: Jury Duty Limbo...
Im getting a million and one different stories Im getting about going to work and being on telephone standby...its even more confusing because I work at night...I dont know whether to go into work or not...one person says I cant come back to work until Im dismissed from duty, another says being on telephone standby IS NOT the same as serving and to come into work... my head is spinning.

My dad is actually on standby this week too, and hes been going to work.. He calls the night before so he knows before bed whether or not hes gotta get up at 430 to get to work. Dont know if that helps, but i always thought you were supposed to go to work unless your number came up.

My dad has to start calling on August 10th. He's annoyed lol. He really can't get out of it either because it's right near home. FMIL used to work in the Queens Civil Court and I got called in and she couldn't get me out. She's out in Brooklyn now, thankfully I won't have to go there.

Re: Jury Duty Limbo...
As an attorney, its my understanding that when you are in call in duty, you must call in each night to see if you are needed, and if not needed you must go to work the next day. The upside of this is that even if you never had to go into court, this 'call in' jury duty satisfies your committment and you won't get called again for a while. Make sure you get your receipt from the Commissioner of Jurors that shows you fulfilled you committment.

Hm, I wonder how that all works out if you work at night…when I was called in to jury duty, I didn’t go to work because it was the same hours. Anyway, I did keep going in when I was just on jury standby---as soon as they call your number and tell you the day you need to report, then you don’t have to go to work anymore.
