Ever wonder why you never (or hardly ever)see anyone go someplace cold for their honeymoons? There are so many beautiful places on earth in the winter months.. Aspen, Colorado, The French/Swiss Alps, Alaska.. Northern Italy, Iceland... just to name a few. is there anyone here going anyplace cold??
I ask this because not everyone loves the heat, yet it seems as if most honeymooners choose a beachy paradise as opposed to a beautiful snowy spot. I personally know alot of people who live skiing and winter activities... and just the cold in general.

I know a girl that went to her parent's cabin and went skiing for their honeymoon. But you're right, it's not common.

I asked my DH the same thing- why not somewhere cold? He said that HM's are supposed to be sexy, and bundled up in layers, scarves and hats isn't as sexy as bathing suits.

Re: Just a ponder...
We are going to Northern Italy for our HM...we were planning on going in May of 2007 - but it is FH's busy season at work - lots of overtime and he can't leave and everything is double what we would pay to go in Nov/Dec...so we decided that we would go, save money and bring an extra coat... Plus FH is not a big fan of heat...he'd hate being at the museams with no air condition in the summer months

Re: Just a ponder...
my FH just knocked out sicily cause it wasn't going to be warm enough...
i don't know why....probably cause you feel like you have to come back with a great tan all rested and relaxed....
but there are ways to keep warm in the cold that are very fun!!!

FH and I are getting married in Stowe, VT
I LOVE Stowe- it's gorgeous!! Congrats and Enjoy.
I agree with Lisa....there is nothing sexier than coming in from the cold, unraveling each other and raising your body temperature the ol' fashioned way!
eta: all this talk got me so hot I forgot how to spell!

I'd much rather walk around in a bathing suit than in 50 layers of clothes - but that's just me!

Re: Just a ponder...
Not sure either...my thought is that maybe many of these hot locations are far so you would want to go for a long time and are expensive so what better time to go than on your honeymoon Just a thought.
Also, I'm not a huge fan of the cold so it was a given we would go someplace warm. If I want to go skiing or to Alaska I can do that on a normal vacation. Just my thoughts

Re: Just a ponder...
I could imagine that people who love the cold do go skiing a lot, and then they would want to do something totally different for their honeymoon.

Ha! My FI wanted to go on an Alaskan Cruise for our HM. I told him no way, because we would never be able to do Hawaii other than our HM.

I'm not going anywhere too cold, but I am going to Ireland. It's not bathing suit weather, where most people are going. My FH and I are not into extended beach vacations, we, okay I, constantly need to be on the move.

Yes, we are! We hate hot climates.
We're doing a 5-day train ride across Canadian Rockies, then a 7-day cruise to Alaska.

FH and I are getting married in Stowe, VT in the dead of winter and are staying on after our guests leave for our honeymoon. I cant think of any other way I would want to spend my honeymoon then laying in my husband arms in front of a cracklying fire!!!
Plus after spend the day out in the snow, what better way to warm up then to
FH and I REALLY wanted to get married in Woodstock/Queche Vermont! We love it there but it was too far for our famililes to travel We thought about going to Europe for our HM, but realized that we wouldn't relax at all and would try to cram as much in as possible. The cold didn't matter to us, we just want to relax.
