Just a rant...too many weddings to attend when I'm trying to pay for my own!
My fiance and I have been to NINE weddings. We have 7 coming up (not to mention, we've been in 4 and we are IN 5 coming up...ahh) and then ours. We give a very generous amount as a gift depending on how close we are and whatnot, and I don't even want to think about doing the math there lol...I love weddings, and I love my friends and family, but how am I supposed to save for my own wedding when I'm paying for everyone elses!? lol
HAs anyone else gone through this?!

Wow, thats a lot of weddings!!! Its a hard time but also think of how happy those people are and how amazing it is that you get to share their time with them!! Its a lot now but I'm sure that all of those 147 weddings will come back to you when its your time

Yeah it's pretty crazy that once 1 friend of yours has a wedding it seems like it's a ripple effect after that and everyone you know is getting married. Next it's going to be baby showers!
Since engaged, FH and I have had 3 weddings, 2 which I was in and 2 which FH was in. We have another one coming up in October (neither one of us are in) and then we have ours, then his cousin's in Ireland and then our friends the September after that. I am pretty sure someone else is going to sneak in there somehow but who knows. It's pretty nuts especially when trying to save for you're own, but yyou gotta do what you gotta do and make it work.

we only have three, but all three are destination weddings and on top of it two of them are also destination bachelor/bachelorette parties. Add buying a house to that and I feel your pain!

if youre going to these weddings im assuming they will also be going to yours... we worked out a deal with another couple that got married in May... we arent exchanging gifts because they are just going to give it right back to us 2 months later...
the year my sister got married 4 of her friends also got married... they did the same thing...

We have 6 weddings this summer alone, FH is in 3 of them, which adds extra for the tux and all. Plus we have to drive 10+ hours or fly to get to all of them. We figured out that it would cost us almost 3K this summer just to go!!! I try not to think about what I could buy for my own wedding with that money, since they are all good friends and I would hate to miss them. But SHIZ, I could sure use 3K extra!

I hear ya...between FH and I, by the end of this year we will have been to 6 weddings, one in which I was MOH and he will be a GM in one. It is costly, but at the same time all of these people will be coming to our wedding. So I guess it kinda works out.
