Just a reminder to all of you ladies (re: safety)

I just wanted to remind all of you ladies who exercise outdoors (ie., powerwalking, jogging, running) that it's getting darker earlier and to turn off the headphones and be aware of your surroundings!

I hate to sound like an after-school special. I'm always reminding the women in my life to be careful around this time of the year, as my mother was attacked back in 2003 while jogging.

i do walk at night, but i carry mace with me..small comfort but its something at least

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. Thats so scary I hate being out alone at night...I try to keep it to a minimum. There are too many crazies out there.

One thing the dirtbag didn't expect was that my mom was a) taking up boxing and b) married to a cop...instinct took over and she beat the living hell out of him. He still ran before he could be caught, but it's always comfort to me that she gave him quite a beatdown.

Thanks for the warning. We really always have to be aware of our surroundings and have a few battle/escape plans ready. My work offered this course on women's safety moves and I learned a lot of great ones!

Thank you Kris!!!! This really is a good reminder. its always going to be in my mind now. its scary hearing it on tv but hearing that it happened to you mom, as horrible as that was really really makes one realize it could happen to anyone. Thank God your mom survived and was sooooo brave!!!!!

omg that is so scary! i am so sad to hear that happened to your mom. there are some crazy people out there. this is why i stick to my treadmill and on the weekends i will run in the morning where there is some light, but i am still a little freaked out!

Thank you for the reminder!! I never go walking alone at night either, I always have my two giant dogs with me! LOL! I'm so sorry to hear about your mom though! That guy deserves to be castrated with a butter knife.

I'm so sorry to hear that happened to your mom. Thanks looking out for us! I walk to and from school Monday-Thursday nights. (In the city) and I basiclly run home because I'm scared!
