Just a thought for brides/grooms with children

I just wanted to bring up this topic...just in case anyone over looked this or didn't even think about it.

If you are going on a Honeymoon and will be leaving your children in the care of someone else...you may want to have a medical release/letter of consent drawn up and notorized....so that in the event your child needs medical attention while you are on your Honeymoon...the person you left them with will be authorized to make medical decissions in your absence....or at least until you can get back from where ever you are.

My FH and I are doing this for our son...and we were able to indicate a start and end date for the medical release/consent.

not unless you have already legally given her consent....otherwise only the parents who are listed on the birth certificate are considered legal guardians.

I know that my mother was not allowed to visit my son while he was in NICU without me or my FH present...they said that it has to do with HIPA Law...and that unless we legally gave her rights she is not considered a legal guardian.

My parents are also watching my son...and my pediatrician said that its a good idea to have the form...just in case they need to take James to the hospital.

I figure better safe than sorry!!!!
Hope and pray for the best...but be prepared for the worse.

FSIL always leaves a note saying that FMIL has consent when they go camping or when she leaves him here for a few weeks every summer.

I dont know if she had is notarized, but it is definately worth having

Great point! I don't have kids (yet ) but my sister left my niece with my mom and I and the poor baby got sick...the ER wouldn't take her! We had to do a LOT to get her treated...that letter, any letter, designating a care giver while you are travelling is really helpful!

oh definately. Even when my mom takes him to the doctors she needs a note signed by me.

That was a good post!!! I worked in an ER for 7 yrs an unless it is some absolute life threatening illness they will not treat a child without a notarized letter and then at the discretion of the doctor still would sometimes want to call the parent!!!!
