just a warning

just a warning

To any of you who are still looking at catering halls... be really careful about giving them your personal information, and make sure that you're really clear that they are not to give out your address or phone number to vendors.
I know in particular that Fox Hollow sells your info out when you book with them, because I'm getting piles of junk mail, and tonight even a phone call (while I was eating dinner, no less) from vendors that say things like 'Congratulations on booking the Fox Hollow,' etc. (I had booked the Fox Hollow and then cancelled it, but I guess in the maybe 3 days between the time I booked and the time I cancelled they sold out my info. They sure don't waste any time!) And they definitely did not ask me if it was okay, because I would have said no. So, if you're looking there keep that in mind when you give them your information.

Edit: I'm pretty sure that most halls do it, I only mentioned Fox Hollow because I know for sure that they do, since I have proof! That and it annoys me that all these people are contacting me under Fox Hollow's name, and I'm not even booked there any more... I cancelled it within 3 days of booking too! But I'm definitely not trying to say something negative about Fox Hollow... lots of people love it there, and they are certainly not the only ones doing this.

I think all halls do that... they give your # to their vendors. I thankfully gave them my WORK #! and believe it or not, I was getting calls up until the week before my wedding from their house DJ.

you think I might have a DJ 1 week before my wedding?

Yeah I've talked to other brides and they all say the same thing.

I refuse to answer the phone when they call. You should see how many messages I have on my answering machine.

Ug, that's ridiculous.

When I was at Flowerfields the woman asked me for my email address and I hesitated and said I didn't want any junk mail, and she told me not to worry about it, that they definitely do not give out your information to vendors.
So, unless she was lying or mistaken, there are some that don't.

That kind of attitude is one of the reasons I loved Flowerfields. Absolutely nothing against Fox Hollow... it's just a different kind of approach.

Either way, I would hope that if you flat out tell them not to that they wouldn't. It can't hurt to try. I think it's just one of those things that people never think about at the time and then later really really really wish they had done...

What really ***** is now I'm getting phone calls from vendors who think I'm getting married at Fox Hollow when I'm not!

Yea, I still get calls sometimes from people who have my old wedding date.
The calls and emails and stuff in the mail has really slowed down though, thank goodness!
But I really think they all do this.

I got a ton of mail in the beginning. I think everyone sells info. And, all of a sudden, 6 months after my wedding, I am now once again bombarded with mail and e-mail from wedding vendors. Very odd!

NRC asked for permission to give out my information. I said my address was o.k., but not my phone number.

I'm sure they all do it. I don't mind the occasional phone call...it's the ones like this stupid 'well known' florist that continues to call...Hello! I'm married! Not to mention I told you 20 other times that we booked our florist a long time ago yet you manage to still call! Or the best is when she asked for me...I told her to take me off her list then calls back SEVERAL times in a row asking for another person...

Exactly, that's how I feel. And my house is even unlisted to avoid crap like this... I think that's why it bothers me so much.

I definitely don't remember being asked, and if there was some box I was supposed to cross off on the contract or something, it certainly wasn't pointed out to me.

They are definitely not the only ones. My hall did the same thing. They really call at inconvienient times.
