just added up the vendor balances...

and as of right now, we're DOUBLE what we have saved... and we're not done... still need like A LOT!
I'm trying so hard not to cry, but I know the second I get in my truck I'm going to loose it!
I feel so bad for FH, because he's footing most of the bill.. my father is giving us $XXX but thats paying for the hall, we're (well FH) is paying for EVERYTHING else, I help out when I can, but money is sooo tight, I don't make a lot, and I'm part time.

just yesterday I had $.45 in my account...
I'm embarrassed, ashamed and depressed and could really just use a hug or two.

i'm so sorry to hear that ... is there any way you can cut back some things you've already booked (like get a smaller / cheaper package with the DJ, florist, etc)?

I am in the same boat! We are double our original budget with little help. My parents are paying for 1/2 the hall (which I am soooo grateful for)...and the rest is all us. Hang in there!!!!

I didn't even count the florist yet, because she hasn't given us a set price (its a family friend).
um.. the DJ is pretty much the cheapest package. we're getting sc rewed by doing the extra hour (for VH) its the ONLY thing I wanted... and its turning out to be the biggest problem! and we have a 2-man, but FH and I both want that... there are just a few things you can't do without, and thats one of the few.

um.. our photographer is whats really scr ewing us... we booked with patken, and yes their work is amazing (hell look at roz's pictures) but... they were double what we wanted to spend when we booked... and we knew that... we just weren't thinking.

the limo is the cheapest rate we got.. and we have it for 6 hours.. we NEED it for 6 hours.

um.. our rings, we wont get into that.

what else.. church- FILs are paying for that

we still need invitations and a bunch of misc. stuff... oh and my accessories and shoes and jewelry and etc.
so yea... 4½ months to come up with like $10,000! not fun! AND the summer is the worst time for me, because I don't make as much $ with dance... so guess who's going to be walking down the isle in an unfitting wedding dress, bare footed and with no jewelry!?

I don't know if this is an option for you, but we negotiated with all our vendors to pay cash and avoided paying any tax. It has saved us a ton of money!

And then we booked our honeymoon with a credit card that will not get paid off until after the wedding.

no worries. i'm always freaking out over it. and FH and I work full time and make decent $. Its our HOUSE that's killing us. 6k in the past 3 weeks. yeah...I wanna burn it down...really.

can you borrow a few of the stuff from past brides like accessories? also you can DIY your invites to make them cheaper.... so sorry you're going through this but everything will work out

this might sound like a weird option, but you said a lot of your vendors are screwing you over because of the VH ... like using a friend who's a DJ do the last hour (or the first hour, if you prefer) and get your 'real' DJ to do the rest ... you could do the same with the photographer.

i hope i didn't sound like your friends who said 'do you really need that' and whatnot ... from what you're saying, you need everything you have (you NEED the VH too because that's your dream!)

as far as Jewelry and / or a veil and / or shoes, you can either buy cheap ones, or borrow from friends. Heck, you could even borrow from me, if you like what i have

I completely understand!! I was freaking out to a friend of mine and she told me the story of when when got married. They were so broke at the end, they paid for everything themselves like we are, that they didn't have the money for the final payments. They decided to sell their one and only car. She said it sounded like a great idea at the time until the day after the wedding when they were car-less!

Can we brainstorm a minute to help you cut costs in the little things? Remember little things add to the wedding but if they aren't there people won't notice. I'm saving in the shoes because I'm borrowing FSIL's shoes. Is there anyone you can borrow shoes from? What about DOJ? Do you have something already or can you borrow something? I sell Lia Sophia jewelry and can tell you even though it's expensive if you have a party it's SOOOO much cheaper. HELL I'd even risk being the good little bride and help a sister out and let you borrow one of my braclets that we have or earrings even. Or give you my discount. Just trying to help. I feel you're pain. I'm supposed to have $5,000 in the bank right now and I have about $600 so FH is going to FLIP if I can't come up with the money that we need. All of our friends are getting married this year and I'm in the bridal parties so money is tight here. You'll figure it all out. FM me if I can do anything to help.

I'm sooo sorry..your not alone..I'm also going through the same thing, I got laid off and have been working part time jobs here and there to help out but it's not enough.
My FH is footing most of the bill also, and we are still coming up short! the best you can do is try to cut corners where you can, and also DIY projects works as well. It will work out in the end.. Worse comes to worse, maybe take out a small loan..thats if it comes down to that. Me and my FH are indeed considering that if we don't have the money by the D- Day.

Regardless, you'll be fine, and you'll still get married! Good luck hun.

i just called FH while i was on break, he was busy, but asked what was wrong, I asked if he got my email and he said yes, and I told him that the costs is really hitting me... usually HE's upset over it... he told me we'd talk about it later, i told him i don't want to talk about it.. cause I'll just get super upset and stuff and he said 'well big girls talk about this kinda stuff and dont just ignore it'
i wanted to slap him through the phone!

we're in contract with these vendors, there's no going back on what we got... we're too far along. the only thing we can do from here on out is do a lot more DIY (like invites, which we were planning on anyway) but I know he's going to tell me I need to contribute more, the thing is, we both know how much I make a week and it really isn't much! like I'm embarrassed by it- i told my moh the other day and she was like 'wow megan, i didn't know.. i'm sorry'
and i've applied and applied to other jobs but the economy is just BAD.. not many places are hiring and those that are, pay less than I make.

the only thing we can think to do is hit the envelopes the day of. and I keep forgetting that part of the photog isn't due until AFTER the wedding.... so thats a big chunk we can hold off on.


w/e i guess we'll figure it out.

ALSO remember (I ALWAYS forget this) people that don't come HOPEFULLY are nice enough to send a check with their response card so you will have some money there too. Not everyone sends but HOPEFULLY people are nice enough and do.
