Just back from the hospital....(update from Dr's visit)

.......When we went to the Dr. and they told us to head right to the hospital because Damien's pulse/ox levels were too low and that he might have RSV. So we are both freaking out, we get to Stonybrook and go to pediatric urgent care and luckily get right in because of our wonderful Dr. who called ahead and said to see us right away(boy did we get dirty looks) He had to have a chest x-ray, which luckily came back clear for no pneumonia. They gave him the nebulizer and steroids, which got his levels up, but his breathing didn't really improve and his chest was sucking in. So they are debating whether to admit him or not. I thought I was going to lose my mind. They finally decide after speaking with our peditrician, that we can take him home but we must be seen first thing tomorrow morning and we have to keep doing the nebulizer every 4 hours and we have to give him steroids. I feel so emotionally drained We had thought we were only going to the Dr. so we had not really eaten. It is good to be home Tonight we will sleep in shifts to make sure he is breathing ok. When I called my Mom to give her the update she said 'Welcome to Motherhood' ain't that the truth

Oh Stace, I'm so sorry you guys are going through this. There is nothing scarier than knowing your child is having difficulty breathing

He is in good care with you guys and the Dr's. As scary as it is, just try to stay calm, he will be fine

Don't you think that Mom's just wait all there life to say 'Welcome to motherhood!' I think it is just one of those things they practice from the time we are born.

I just called the Dr. and we are going back at 10:10. He is still coughing and wheezing But smiles through it. His chest is still concave when he breathes, which makes me nuts Hopefully they will say he's doing better. Thanks for all the well wishes. Damien and I both feel asleep on the couch last night. My wonderful hubby let us sleep an he stayed up to make sure he was ok. I'll let you all know how this next appointment goes. Cross your fingers they don't send us back to the hospital
