Just back from the hospital....(update from Dr's visit)

.......When we went to the Dr. and they told us to head right to the hospital because Damien's pulse/ox levels were too low and that he might have RSV. So we are both freaking out, we get to Stonybrook and go to pediatric urgent care and luckily get right in because of our wonderful Dr. who called ahead and said to see us right away(boy did we get dirty looks) He had to have a chest x-ray, which luckily came back clear for no pneumonia. They gave him the nebulizer and steroids, which got his levels up, but his breathing didn't really improve and his chest was sucking in. So they are debating whether to admit him or not. I thought I was going to lose my mind. They finally decide after speaking with our peditrician, that we can take him home but we must be seen first thing tomorrow morning and we have to keep doing the nebulizer every 4 hours and we have to give him steroids. I feel so emotionally drained We had thought we were only going to the Dr. so we had not really eaten. It is good to be home Tonight we will sleep in shifts to make sure he is breathing ok. When I called my Mom to give her the update she said 'Welcome to Motherhood' ain't that the truth

Oh Stacey, I am soooo sorry that you, Steve and especially Damien are going through this!! The poor little munchkin!!! Big hugs and kisses from Gianna and I!!

I hope everything goes well at the dr this morning and he's on the road to a full recovery!! The poor baby!! My sister went through this w/my nephew, he was hospitalized with the croup and I know how you must feel. It's a horrible feeling when your child is sick.

I'm thinking of you!!!!!

OMG! I am so sorry to hear that Damien is so sick! I hope he's feeling MUCH better today, Stacey. You're Mom is right -> 'Welcome to Motherhood.' They don't really prepare us too well for these things in advance....we kinda have to learn by experience I'm praying for your little guy, and hope that he's feeling good as new very soon!!!! NO MORE HOSPITAL!!!

So we went to the Dr and he is doing a little better. His pulse/ox levels are still low but he seems to be moving air better. We are now giving him Orapred and still doing the nebulizer every 4 hours. He is still not nursing as much as usual and the Dr. said I can give him Pedialite if he doesn't have enough wet diapers. I am so exhasted. I just want my little guy to be better.
