Just booked most of my vendors...

Just got back from a week on Long Island. We had about 9 appointments for photographers, videographers and djs. Was happy b/c we got to cancel about 4 appts b/c we really loved who we met with. We booked Patken for our photographer, Steve was great..really reasonable prices and great work..super nice guy which was important since the photographer runs the beginning of the day..we met with some others that had good work but were a bit pushy and we did not want someone bossing us around on our day. We are so happy with Steve. For videography we are booked Peter, with Platinum video..he was our first appt. and we were about to book him right then and there but decided not to rush into it..but he was by far the best, well we thought. Awesome artistic work, he does all the videoing and editing and has a great artistic eye for it all. And last we met with 3 dj's we went with Tommy Tunes , who I highly recommend..great people and a very organized and helpful office. They had the best packages and a ton of different options for equipment to choose from as far as lighting goes..my FH and I were not thrilled about getting the big truss set up..and they totally worked with us to make it more of an elegant setting for our reception..and I like that they dont put a huge sign to advertise their business on their dj booth at our reception..just a nice classier touch. We went with MC Joe Costa..we saw almost all of their MC's..which was important to me, I wanted to met the MC and make sure we liked his personality and everything. So overall it was a great trip and we are so excited about our choices..it was so much fun meeting diff. vendors and picking who we wanted for our day. We also finally got to see out reception in person..WE Love it soooooooo much..we are having it at Giorgios..it is so beautiful, just what we were looking for..and the people their are super nice. and we also met with the priest who will marry us..all exciting stuff. well, just wanted to fill you in..you have all been so helpful so if anyone has any questions..feel free!! :)

Phunkykat, I booked Patken and Had 2 coupons when I went. Just make sure you give it to them after you have a final price. (We waited for a couple of days then called back to add the coupon and book them)One was for $300.00 off. That makes a big difference. Good luck and if Doug is too much for your budget definitely get Steve.

Glad to hear you booked Pete at Platinum Video. We were very impressed with his work also. What package did you guys get??? We got the short form edit, 2 video cameras and a lot of extras. He gave us great discounts on so much stuff.

Hi Michelle, Sounds like you had a great trip! Congrats on working out most of the important details. As for florists, I checked out Rocky Point Florist and Silk Iris. I've had friends use James Cress and the work was beutiful. I wound up booking Silk Iris because she's the closest to my house and also does invites, favors, tuxes - I figured I could work with her in a couple of areas and make it easier on myself. Rocky Point was a little cheaper than Iris, but not by too much. It was weird getting quotes, because I haven't picked colors or flowers yet so all they really did was quote basic packages.
