JUST CALL ME MRS. FOR SHORT. I'M OFFICIALLY MARRIED!!! Here's my review... Part 1, 2 & 3

Let me begin by first saying thank you to all of you LIW ladies for all of your advice, support, and assistance in planning what was the HAPPIEST day of my life to date. Although I was never a huge poster, I read pretty consistently and when I did post I always received honest and valuable feedback. A special thank you to 'table six girls,' Wanda, Richsbride, Jenhos, and Curly. Your sincerity, interest and good tips stood out and I definitely needed and appreciated it. You have no idea how helpful you've been along the way.

I have a few pictures that I’ll scan(for the first time) this evening. I’m also dropping off the other table camara’s so I’ll post the good ones when I get them too.
Now on to the good stuff:

It was the happiest and most exciting day of my entire life. It was everything that I'd hoped for and so much more.

Remembering the advice that you ladies provided, DH and I gave ourselves a few minor rules that we stuck to for the wedding day and was so happy that we did.
They were:
1) Make time to EAT. We did and DELICIOUS about sums it up.

2) Don't sweat the small stuff. There were two very little things that technically were not perfect but no one knew except me (and FH after I told him) and in the end no harm was done so we weren't bothered at all.

3) Don't separate for too long. Naturally there were instances when we were not together but we always found each other after a minute or two and we ENJOYED our day together immensely.

4) HAVE FUN! You would have thought that the Milleridge sat on top of cloud 9 because happy and fun do not do justice to the feelings and euphoria that we had on March 1st, 2003. The world could have been crumbling around the Milleridge Cottage on that day but no one (myself and DH included) would have known the difference.

MILLERIDGE COTTAGE: A
We had every confidence in our hall and was not dissappointed in the least. Our banquet manager, Selena, was an angel. She dealt with our frequent visits, endless questions, and did her best to accomodate all of our requests. She made things so much easier for us. We ate and the food, just like the tasting was outstanding!!!! Our families are going on and on about it. We arrived back to the States yesterday to numerous messages complimenting the food, music and details. Thus far everyone we've heard from LOVED the Milleridge. I'd given Selena and my appointed Day of Coordinator about seven typed pages detailing how things should look and where things should go. As requested, there were candles and rose petels everywhere you turned and EVERYTHING from the ceremony to the cake was gorgeous. My MOH picked us up from the airport and one of the first things she said was that our cake was the best she had ever tasted. Another thing that we heard right away from several people was 'there was SO MUCH FOOD.' For dessert we had apple pie a la mode, wedding cake, and the grooms 'rum' cake, as well as the international drinks and coffee/cordial bar. Looking back I could smack myself for even considering the viennese. As for the service, it stood up to the white gloves worn! I'm told that napkins were always folded, glasses were full and my guests (to my knowledge) never heard the word no. ...Not to second helpings, a kind of drink, or anything else!

A couple things though to explain the A rating instead of an A+: Somehow I had left off my instructions pages that I wanted the doors to the atrium room which adjoined the ball room closed. I know that I mentioned it before but on the day of they were open. The Milleridge is a one wedding at a time place so it's not like we were opened up to other peoples guests. Also our DJ was so darn good that no one left the dance floor to go anywhere but the bathroom. The second thing was, as beautiful as (IMO) my cake was, when it first came out, my cake topper wasn't on it. I don't know how that happend but as soon as I got the words out of my mouth, the topper was where it should be. Those are the ONLY two minor negative things and like I said, though it didn't bother us in the end I thought I'd mention it because I want to give a complete and honest recount of the day and it's vendors. The maitre d, Steve, fussed over us and my bridal assistand, Anna was awesome! Any Milleridge brides out there, exhale because you and your guest will be impressed with the food, caliber of class and sheer elegance of this place. WORRY NOT!

JIM LOWE, CEREMONY PIANIST: A+
He was very professional. After a little phone tag we had one 30-minute conversation and we were set for the big day. He played Ave’ Maria for our Moms entrance, Canon in D for the BP and the good ole’Bridal Chorus for me. In our ceremony (which was my most favorite part of the day) we also had a musical interlude where Mr. Lowe sang and played my father’s favorite song, which he always sang, AMAZING GRACE, in his memory. It was beautiful and I cried happy tears because I knew he was there and felt his presence. Mr. Lowe has a beautiful voice and is a very talented musician. He’s easy to work with, beautiful ceremony music (and pre-ceremony music) and affordable. I highly recommend him. …He can bring his keyboard but the Milleridge allowed him to use their Grand Piano. It was all just beautiful

INVITATIONS - LA PRODUCTIONS: A+
Laura was one of my favorite vendors to work with. Her work is impeccable!! I wanted something different than what I saw in the big books but didn't want to spend a million dollars on invites that most would throw away either. I told her my vision and she brought it to life. I couldn't have been happier with them. We received SO many compliments on them. They really set the tone for what was to come. A funny thing is, everyone assumed that they were a fortune. Oh, if they only knew. EMO3: From just sending out my invites, I got so many requests for Laura's contact info. One thing.... one of the types of paper that I originally wanted was discontinued. To make-up for it, I provided laura with my address list and she printed all my mailing envelopes out for me. I was SOOOOO happy!!! She also gave us a framed invite as a gift. It's beautiful! She found an almost identical paper to the one we wanted and the gift and printed envelopes more than made-up for the the original paper. I fully recommend her to anyone looking for something customized.

EBONY ENTERTAINMENT: A+++
(Steele Band, DJ & MC)
Honestly, I was slightly nervous about this vendor because I know that food and music just about make or break your day. All I can say is thankfully; I wasted my time worrying unnecessarily. AWESOME is NOT the word!!! Okay, maybe it is. For cocktail hour, I had a Steele Band, though we were taking pictures, I could hear them and they sounded so cool! Our families (who are both of Caribbean background) just loved them and I am so glad that we got them.
In terms of the reception, we wanted a full-blown celebration with music to match and that's exactly what we got. I had given them a list of songs and artists that we wanted and they matched it and then some. EVERYONE from the youngest to the oldest was on the floor dancing and having a good time. My photographers and videography staff were overjoyed with the shots that they were able to get as a result. The music was PERFECT and accommodated everyone. DH made CD's with a collection of 19 of our favorite songs a

FLOWERS BY BURTONS: A
I'm no flower fanatic and it was therefore not on the top of my priority list BUT, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the bouquets! Mine was a beautiful black magic arrangement wrapped with white lace and surrounded by ivy and something else. I gave them a picture and it was nearly exact. MOHs (2) had a Nicola Rose bouquet. They are white on the outside and reddish on the inside. They too were wrapped in a white lace surrounded by greenery. Just gorgeous!! BMs & Jrs. had a mix of white roses with black magics mixed in. Oh, and all but mine had open stems. I know it wasn’t traditional bthat they were all different but I’m so happy with the way that they looked! One thing, they arrived a little earlier than planned but better earlier than later. No biggie. I looked at about four florists including the Milleridge Florist (who did a FABULOUS job on my ceremony and centerpiece arrangements) but for the simple personal flowers that I wanted, BURTONS was BY FAR the least expensive. They were highly recommended, wedding florists, and affordable so I was confident that they would do well. They did and I am 100% satisfied with the choice I made.

VIP STUDIOS, PHOTOGRAPHY: ????
Well, obviously I’ll have to give the real review once I receive the proofs in another week but here are my impressions.
John is a great photographer and true artist but he is very laid back. Depending upon your personality type this could make you more comfortable or less comfortable. He is fairly easy to work with and very nice. He arrived promptly, was patient, and seemed to have a handle on when we should be taking what shots. The other photographer that shot in black and white, Cathey, was awesome, very nice, reassuring and just a pleasant person in general. I did notice her snapping away candidly at different points in the evening. WE DID NOT see each other before the ceremony and we have NO regrets.
We aren’t very traditional in general but this was the one tradition we wanted to honor. Pictures though important to us were secondary. We wanted to see each other for the first time when I appeared at the top of the aisle. The feeling was indescribable and though a little nervous we were both fairly composed. Our photographers were understanding regarding this and did the best they could to work around this. All that said, I feel confident that we will be more than happy with the outcome.

BELLERINO, VIDEOGRAPHY: A+++
Perhaps my rating for Phil (& Kate) is a bit premature because I obviously haven’t seen the finished product. However, Phil is the EASIEST MOST ACCOMODATING person to work with. Crazy I know, but we booked him less than two weeks away from our wedding. From the first phone call made to the end of the night, he was a pleasure. We just knew immediately that we were in good hands with him and we never looked back. You ladies helped us to come to our senses and get the video. Thank you. On our honeymoon as we discussed the wedding over and over, all we kept saying was “I’m so glad we got the video. I can’t wait to see it!” Hands down, Bellerino is a class act. Phil is one of the most professional and thorough people that I’ve ever met and we fully expect and feel confident that our video will be a true reflection of such.

HONEYMOON, Royal Caribbean – 7 Day Western Caribbean Cruise: Overall A+
It was the perfect thing for us to do in one week’s time. (DH is a teacher and was only able to get the 5 days away from work.) On a cruise you can be as isolated (just you and your hubby) or as social as you’d like. At dinner we were seated with two other newlywed couples. They were so sweet! One was from Trinidad and Tobago and the other from Kuwait. It was so interesting to hear about their weddings, customs and such. The ship was HUGE. It had 15 floors and lacked NOTHING! We visited, Labadee which is an island owned by RC off the coast of Haiti, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico.

Food: Talk about choices and abundance. The 12 pounds I lost for my dress is probably right back. (Not really J) The food on a scale on 1-4 with for being the highest was overall a three. We were very satisfied.

Service: We were so pampered all seven days. Definitely a 4+. We even did a couple of the spa treatments together and it was romantic and relaxing.

Ports, Excursions & Activities, etc: 4 The offerings of activities were plentiful but I admit we didn’t take full advantage. There was rock climbing, ice-skating, rollerblading, yoga on the ship and on the beach classes, comedy shows, a fairly large casino, and several live performances. Everything you wanted was there for the taking. The four ports we visited were fun. We only booked a few excursion trips, jet skiing, snorkeling, and swimming with the stingrays. We give a thumbs-up for all three. The rest of the time out on the islands we rented a moped and rode around the entire perimeter of Cozumel. It was breathtaking. In Jamaica (DHs homeland) we hired a driver and toured Ocho Rios. I got a taste of what’s to come when we have our extended visit in August.

Room: 4 We were sure to get a sizeable suite, complete with a balcony so that we wouldn’t feel like the walls were closing in on us. It was perfect and plenty big enough. We were definitely satisfied and the views we had from the balcony were breathtaking.

Overall: It was great!!! We maximized on what we could see in short period. Had plenty of time alone. Met other newlyweds and wonderful people from around the world. Didn’t get sea sick…NOT even once. We ate well, slept and relaxed, partied and just had a darn good time. While on board, we even saw the future travel consultant about booking our next cruise. The plans are already in the works.

Finally, just a few more things:

The details do matter. Everyone loved the amenities baskets, ceremony programs, menus, (thanks for the template Wanda they came out FABULOUS and looked just like my invites.) table names, cd’s, table camara scavenger hunt, signature drink, and all the other little touches that DH, BP and I worked so hard on. They all helped to personalize or wedding and were worth it in the end.

It’s all over! I’m married and now the real fun and work begins. Good luck to all of you. Your day will be beautiful no matter what!

PS: Just realized I left out
Hair: Majestic Salon in Uniondale. Keisha is the best. My trial and day of was PERFECT. Very Natural and elegant,

MAKE-UP: 'Jenny' She also works at Prescriptives in Nordstrom, Roosevelt Field mall. : AWESOME!!!
I don't like make-up but I loved it that day! She did my mom, BP girls, and me and if I must say so myself.. We wer all HOT, HOt, HOT!!!! Wouldn't have changed a thing! ... Except my lipstick which I did change to a very natural shiny look that I always wear. DH said he fell in love
with me all over again we he first saw me at the top of the aisle.

Gowns: CHARISOL BRIDAL
The service was top notch and very personable. Everytjing came in on time. Alterations were included in the price and they were to a T. No complaints. It's a pretty, girly, boutique like place that 's just the right size and the owner knows you by name. I use them again tomorrow.
That's it, I promise.
(Until I post the pictures that is.)
Thanks again ladies.

My photographers and videography staff were overjoyed with the shots that they were able to get as a result. The music was PERFECT and accommodated everyone. DH made CD's with a collection of 19 of our favorite songs as one of our favors. We gave this to them prior to the wedding and asked them to use it as dinner music. I can't tell you how happy we were to sit back, eat our food, and listen to it as husband and wife. The MC played a game to give away the centerpieces that was a big hit and made everyone laugh. The giveaways added to the fun. Steele Band, DJ & MC,...PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!!! Not one complaint. The music was the perfect variety and everything we asked for. DH and I along with virtually all our guests were going and going at every opportunity.

Liz, she's the nicest person you'll ever want to meet. I went to her at 9:30am because my wedding was in the evening. She's off today but I'll ask her tomorrow if she does the house visits for weddings and let you know okay?
