Just call me The Blackout Bride.

Just call me The Blackout Bride.

So I'm all excited because my dress came in. I go to the bridal shop yesterday. They put me in one of the fitting rooms upstairs, the seamstress brings my dress. It fits very nice except for the length and shoulders. I'm very pleased, I've been dieting and the dress looks beautiful. All of a sudden....bam! Total darkness. I was calm at first, then I heard lots of commotion in the shop and I started screaming 'Get me outta here'. There was no windows in that area and I swear I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. The seamstress found me in the darkness, led me by the hand to a room with a window, me tripping over the dress. Then they sent someone back with a candle to find my clothes. Of course the AC went out too, so I start sweating like crazy (dress has 3/4 sleeves). I get the dress off as quickly as possible, standing in front of a window in my underwear (I really didn't care who was looking at that point!) I was laughing that it was a sign from God. The sight of me in a Wedding Dress plunges millions into darkness! The shop (Flowerama in Ridgewood) was so nice to me, kept me calm, made sure I had a way to get home. They told me that for the rest of time I would always be remembered as The Blackout Bride. I sincerely hope that the blackout has not affected anyones weddings this weekend. I know alot of you must have been in a state of panic yesterday if your wedding is this weekend and I was thinking about all of you on the drive home. My experience is something I can joke about but for alot of you I'm sure this has been no joke. I hope everyone is OK.

At least the dress fit- that is the really important thing. And you have a great story to tell your kids someday too

It was quite an adventure. I spoke with my cousin in Howard Beach at about noon and they still had no power. I feel bad for anyone getting married at Russos tonight. I'm sure the power will be on in time but I can't imagine how stressful that must be.

I got stuck in Target once during a storm and all the lights went out. It's such a weird feeling being in a strange place and not being able to see. I can imagine how you felt being in the pitch dark, trapped in a changing room while wearing your wedding dress!

I wonder if anybody was tanning when the lights went out?!
