Just curious: When did you need to ..........

From what I've heard, your belly just pops out one day.

I mean like how far along? 12 weeks? 14 weeks?
You don't even have to answer for your personal experience. You can tell me about one of your friends or what the books say.

Sue-

I started to buy the clothes at about 8 wks or so. I think they are more confortable than trying to squeeze in to some of my regular clothes. I am also wearing some Old Navy clothes (shirts) in XL and they fit well because they are a roomy and long. They should last me a couple of months atleast!!!

About 18 weeks for tops (the 'girls' grew first ), and about 22 weeks for pants.

I LIVED in old navy clothes... I was one of those women most perggy people hated.. ( sorry gals)... I didnt look preggo until I was just shy of six months and all of a sudden ***Bloof*** !!!! LOL From then on I was huge I thought it looked like I was gonna have quints!!!!! I didnt though!! I had a 10lb. 5oz. 22.5 inch bouncing baby boy!!!

Everyones pregnancy is different!! Enjoy it!!! I did buy clothes before I needed it.. I knew eventually I would.. If you dont need them yet, and youre out shopping and you stumble on a really cute outfit or shirt, or a really good deal... BUY IT!!!!!!!

I started wearing my sister's maternity clothes (if it's free, it's for me ) at about 16 weeks. I was very lucky and only had to buy a few things towards the end of my pg b/c I gained 60 pounds during my pg and she gained less than 20 during hers!

I didn't wear maternity clothes until 5 months and even now I can still wear some elastic waist sweatpants and sweatpants shorts/leggings in a larger size. I have not purchased any maternity underwear other- just larger size normal ones. I did get bra extenders from JC Pennys ($8.00) and those are GREAT. I had to buy 4 or so new bras but with the extenders they can last through my whole pregnancy, plus some of my pre-prego ones work great still with those extenders.

Jeans were gone by month 3. I got a pair of maternity capri-jeans at that point.

But because I work from home I can get away with Scott's tee-shirts and shorts a lot. Oldnavy.com has some great buys on maternity clothes though.

Sue I had to start buying some things at about 15 weeks..not much, just some pants
My tops all still fit me now at 25 weeks but I like the way the maternity tops fit better..
Needless to say, Thank goodness I didn't buy to many pants cause now at 25 weeks I'm almost growing out of them..my tummy really popped a few weeks ago.
Everyone grows and shows differently.
With my First son, I never bought maternity clothes, my tummy had never popped until the very end..
Go figure

The whole process is just frustrating and unpredictable. Get used to wearing the same few things that fit over and over! I first bought 3 pair of one size bigger low rise pants from the Gap. Definetely a baggy look, but comfortable. At 19 weeks now, my regular pants still fit but by the end of the day or when I sit down, its pushing it. I just bought 2 pair of no panel maternity pants from the Gap. The panel pants are all still way too big. I am sure I will have to move on to those eventually. There doesn't really seem to be much that can take you from beginning to end- at least in pants.
