We have 264 - my hall only holds 240! Would you risk inviting more than the max or cut it off at 240 & turn the rest into a 'B-List'!
I hate that I let my FMIL invite everyone! She is such a great lady though & she has SO many family friends. So she is invited to everything.
How do you handle the whole 'B-List' situation? Won't they know if they see they only have a week or two before the RSVP date? I don't want to offend anyone

I think you'd be fine inviting all 264, usually you get 20% of the people saying no.
I did my guest list today and almost fell over. It's not including some people my mom might invite and my FMIL has invited via mouth. AAAGH!
ETA My FILs are the same way!!!

with that many invited you are more than likely going to have at least 24 no's. you should be ok.

i get nervous all the time - so i would create a 'b' list. what happens if you end up with 242 people or something like that.....i dunno i would find it too stressful.

You should be ok inviting that many people. We invited 205 and had 155 at the wedding (including 10 no shows the day of!)
If you do have a b list, stagger the invites. Send some out earlier and as you get Nos, then send out the b list invites.

this is what I did (for the same reason) I have my first RSVP date March 6, the second is 4/1 (or thereabouts)
I know that doing it this way would have caused far less anxiety than praying every day to the mail gods to bring in some no's!
