Just got back from the movies and I need to VENT!!!!

We saw 50 first dates cute movie! But these are the reasons why I hate to pay 10.00 to go to the movies! Besides the other 10.00 it cost for a popcorn and a soda.

Cell phones - Why oh why can't you turn them off.

Nextel- that annoying beeping and as if thats not bad enough this guy tonight was using the 2 way so not only did I hear him talking but I had to hear the other end of the conversation!

Cameras on the phone- Don't get me wrong I have a camera phone (I think I used it 2 times waste of money) But tonight this guy must of taken like 4 pics of the screen WHYYY???

Talking- I didn't pay this much money to hear u talk Shut the F@$# up! And if you arrive late which also annoys me please don't talk find a seat fast and just sit!

And What really annoyed me the most tonight!!!- This movie started at 10:00 pm. Besides the fact that it was an adult movie with a pg-13 rating (granted it wasn't that bad but it wasn't the little mermaid) These people had like a 4 year old there WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He kept jumping up and down in the seat which made this annoying noise and talking, crying screaming ANNOYING And the movie didn't end till 12:00 AM. Shouldn't a 4 year old be in bed? Im not a mother but IMO If you can't find a babysitter at 10:00 then you shouldn't go out. Be responsible!


As we were leaving this lady had her shoes and socks off and was resting them on the railing in front of her DISGUSTING!!!!

Oh good lord, did I write that post? I'm up late, I'm in a surly mood and I can't stand all that stuff you just mentioned in the worst way.

Kids in the theatre are the worst!!!!! I've been at quite a few inappropriate for kid movies that people brought their kids to. 2 incidents that stand out vividly:

A girl who looked to be about 9 or 10 years old sitting in front of us during the General's Daughter. I'm sure the graphic rape scene had no impact on her.

A little boy, maybe 5 years old sitting behind us during Reindeer Games. If you haven't seen the movie, the opening scene is someone dressed as Santa lying on a car roof with his chest blown open by a gun. We heard the little boy go 'Oh no Santa'...

WTF?? You are 1000% right about being responsible. As a parent I can tell you, even if you have no money to pay a babysitter and afford a night out - every parent knows someone else with kids. Why not trade off - one night you watch their kid(s) and they go out, another night they do it for you and you go out. I guess that would take too much brain power to think up.

And people who bring their own nasty food into the movie theatre. I've seen (smelled) KFC, McDonalds and even Chinese Food at movies.

The woman with her nasty feet on the rail sounds really classy.

As much as I like movies, I don't enjoy it like I once did or go very often for the reasons you stated. I hate being in close proximity to other people with their gross habits and rudeness.

How's that for a rant?

Aside from all that, the one that puts me over the edge are all the advertisements, you know - the pepsi commercials, etc. I go ballistic.

I simply refuse to pay $30 (tickets plus beverage) to sit in a theater with all the things you two mentioned to watch commercials and previews and movie ettiquette clips for 15 minutes before the movie starts.

LOL Movie ettiquette that no ONE FOLLOWS anyway! SO why bother?

We have the same issues, DH basically refuses to go to the movies unless it looks like a great movie. Usually we wait until it comes out on PPV, and watch it at home. We also found that by our old house, if you did not get to the theatre 30 mins before the movie, you could not find 2 seats together unless you sat right in front of the screen. Its so annoying to pay all that money and then not be able to get a seat.

Kids screaming is the worst, esp. when you go to a late movie that you think will be 'adults only'. Or, when people talk to the screen, like 'NO, Dont go in there! Shes the killer!' I want to throw my popcorn at them

Oh yes this is why we go to only certain movie theatres now. There's one in Bronxville and you never get that kind of crap going on there. The one in Yonkers is always filled with kids/teens and parents that think it's normal to bring their toddlers to a TEN O'CLOCK movie. Hello!!! If you can't get a babysitter then don't go to the movies. Ugh.

But it's not just kids - we saw Miracle Saturday night and a whole FAMILY was talking behind me. The stupid kid was like 'what does he mean? what is going on' and finally I turned around and asked them to be quiet. I mean really - it's one thing when a few teens or tweens are at a movie talking - it's annoying but when you are there with your parents and they don't tell you to be quiet so the other moviegoers can pay attention? That's just rude.


Theatres should ban young children from late night movies. Why would you do that anyway? Most late movies are R rated anyway.

And ban cell phones too. And actually have a worker in the theatre to sit there and tell people to leave if they're talking on the phone.

That is why hubby and I go to the movies when it is least attended. I cannot stand people at the movies who are so inconsiderate.

One word - BLOCKBUSTER!!!

I get almost a road rage attitude when I go to the Theatres, that's why I don't go anymore because people are so damn inconsiderate. I near stabbed a woman (j/k) during Titanic because all she did (regardless of the 10+ people asking her to shut up) kept talking about the sales at Macy's, etc. to her friend. Who the 'F' cares?????

Ugghhh!!!!

This is why we wait for movies to come out on DVD...

Ah.. the movies.... they're a double edged sword. It's fun to see the big screen.. but you have to put up with others whcih can be impossible... recenlty.. there was a father and two young boys there... and the father would not shut the f--- up. he was setting an awful example to his boys.

I did the obligatory turn around stare.
Then the obligatory.. 'ssssh:'
Then the obligatory... 'come on.'

Nothing worked.

The worse offense I ever saw was a family who had their toddlers at Leaving Las Vegas. Disgraceful!

We very rarely go to the movies anymore for all of those reasons. It makes me fume at a movie theatre but, you should see me when it happens at a B'Way show!!!! I had to turn around and tell the people behind me at 'Little Shop of Horrors' that I did not pay $75.00 to hear them sing the songs.

FH and I wanted to go to the movies last weekend...but we had FH's daughter. He said that she would sit quietly through the movie (she's 7). I said no way...I hate when people bring kids to inappropriate movies, there's no way I'm going to turn into one of them.

Needless to say...we didn't go to the movies. We hardly ever go. If we do...it's like the first show on a Sunday at like 12...not too crowded. I will not go to the movies on Fri. or Sat. night...its so not worth it! I could almost go see a broadway show for the same price! LOL.

I like the commercial they show at the start of movies concerning cell phones... the ejector seat.. and inconsiderate cell phone man.

Oh.. and I love Fandango commercials too!

Other than that.. show me the previes and start the movie!
