Diary of a Mad Bride. Adorable book, I recommend it, but here's the question...if FH gave you something other than a diamond as your engagement ring, would you care? I honestly don't think I would, I actually have seen some other stones that I think fit my personality better, but I LOVE my ring. I just ask this because of the thread about e-ring jealousy, oh, and the book.

I just read that book too - loved it! Any bride to be should read that book it was hilarious! the footnotes were a unique touch but drove me a little crazy.
I wouldn't care if the ring was given in the same spirit/sentiment as in the book (an heirloom). I'd be honored! But since FH bought it himself, I got some input & was glad that I did!

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my e-ring, but reading that book made me realize how the ring, in the end, has no meaning, it is the story behind it, the meaning, etc. I think peopel lose sight of that.

I think that book is great for all B2B. I would not care what kind of ring (stone, color, etc.) my FI would of given me because whatever it was it would be from him to me and nothing (not even a ring) could represent our love for each other.

I read another hilarous one recently, called Shopaholic gets married. Its like Bridget Jones' Diary, I was laughing out loud on the train on the way to work. I have it at home, will have to post the author.

I thought it was a very cute book. And no, I wouldn't care if my FH didn't give me a ring, let alone a ring with something other than a diamond in it. I think you'd be pretty shallow if you did care...and I think society svcks for making people think that the size or quality of a diamond e-ring, represents how loved you are. Blech.

I always wanted a traditional engagement ring. However, today I was at school talking to a newlywed and she has a sapphire with side diamonds and her wedding ring is a diamond and sapphire eternity ring and it was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
