Just got engaged!!! Planning a 2014 wedding!
I just got engaged on 12/13/12 :DWe are planning a wedding for 12/13/14. We wanted a long engagement and my fiance thought the idea of getting married on the same night we got engaged is awesome. I really like the consecutive numbers. :)
We want to book a place SOON (by March).
Theme is a vintage-y winter wonderland feel. A lot of silvers and icy blues.
Any suggestions?? Any tips to help get me started??
Also... I'm in love with my ring (he let me pick it out) so I just wanted to share it!

Congrats and welcome!! Happy planning!I think getting started on a venue right away is a great idea - you're more likely to get the place you want and at a lower price - you'll get 2013 pricing now instead of 2014. I would figure out what you're really looking for in a place. My FH and I knew we wanted a place with only 1 wedding at a time, but that limited our options. Check out places online and read reviews and definitely ask the ladies on these boards - they've all been great. And most importantly, have fun! I loved venue shopping!!

Best idea to get it booked quick! These boards and ladies are SO helpful. I love the consecutive number date and same date as your engagement makes it even cuter. Booking now will give you 2013 prices and December you should get some deals too. Welcome and happy planning!

Congrats! I like the consecutive dates. FH and I are getting married on the same day we re-ran into each other after 3 yrs and started dating shortly after. Do you have a price point per person you want to stay in?

That should be fine for that time of year do you know how many people you are looking to have, and any specific area on long island. Suffolk, Nassua, North shore, South shore, anything like that?we are booked I just kept forgetting since August lol to update it. We did a day time wedding to save a lot of money and we still have the whole night to have an after party at the hotel. We got are paying $65 just because we are doing a daytime. If we did a night time our price would of double per person. So important to know where you are willing to do to be at a price you feel comfortable at a place you like.

Thats awesome. What venue did you choose? I'm contemplating having everything start at like ... 3 pm to go until like 9 and then party it up at the hotel.
I'd like to keep it in Suffolk. I don't need waterfront so the shores don't matter too much to me.
I'd also like a place with a limit of 200 people (or even 150) that way that can be my 'excuse' as to not inviting some people. Does that sound horrible??

Just got engaged!!! Planning a 2014 wedding!
We chose Jericho Terrace after 3 months hunting around we based our desicion on food lol. Most people leave a wedding and the one thing they remember is if they had a good time and food. Not the fancy decor or the location. So we had our top 3 2 were definitely pushing our venue price limit and Jerich which was under our price budget. We ate at all 3 and just Jericho blew us away with how awesome the food was and it wasn't made special for us. That had us sit in a room that wasn't being used and served us dishes that were being served one of the weddings going on that day. People look at us like we are crazy but the steak sealed the deal, its the best steak either one of us have ever had lol. There is definely a lot of placed that should fit your requirements. Check out smithtown landing Rich is extrememly nice, it's Lessing so food is good and I think 150 200 is their limit and they are very reasonable price definitely under 100 and it is even more so for winter months. We were quoted 75 for October for a night and 60 for day time. The prices were definitely cheaper for December. East wind has a new all inclusive package for 10,000 plus has a hotel on their property great food and different room options so you can choose a room with the medium limit. The Rivera was very rustic and different looking it is on the water but its not your typical waterfront venue and prices are very reasonable they quoted us $80 or 70pp for night and 60 for a day. West Sayville country club is very cute in the wintertime it has alot of old charm and have good food. They do have a cap at 175 for the room size. Very reasonable price we were quoted all inclusive pricing 80pp that included tax and everything. So for December it should be even lower. Country House in Stonybrook does weddings they max out at 120 so isn't huge but has so much charm, food is amazing. We checked it out and this might sound like a odd reason but it's supposedly haunted and we wanted originally a halloween wedding so we thought it would be very fitting to have it at a real haunted house lol. But we needed space for more than 120 :( in December the place is gorgeous! They decorate everything very detailed. The house is also a historical site as well.
No that does not sound horrible to be honest I did the same thing and keep telling people we are paying for it ourselves and that is all we can afford our room max is 140 even though that is a lie its 175 lol. I have been to almost every venue on LI lol sad I know. So if you have a question on one feel free to ask.
