I want it to look good....and since it's only 8 people it can be a cake/pie OR cookie/bar/candy thing...
I was thinking of chocolate covered strawberries...and something else
The hosts are doing platters of wings and sandwiches (her FH is having ACL surgery the day before)

this is what we're bringing to a party. i'm baking a cake then we'll be cutting the cake in the middle then putting canolli cream in it

We made Death by Chocolate for Thanksgiving and Christmas and it was so delicious.
Cool whip, chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, hot fudge and crumbled Skor or Heath bar.
You layer it in a trifle bowl.

if the host is doing finger foods, i would definately go with cookies/ that sort of thing, over a pie, so its easier for the host/ other guests as well.
i LOVE the idea of chocolate covered strawberries around the outside of the platter (i think the presentation is what really makes the desserts look so great )
now we have to figure out which kinda cookies for the middle....... hmmmmmmmm
ill start thinking (though this may take a while)
williams-sonoma's website has somoe really grat recipes (i made the sugar cookies, linzer tarts and chocolate chip cookies for yesterday, and everyone loved all of them)

That sounds liek a cute idea!! I never made them though (i dont like the cream in eclairs), so im not sure how involved it is... but if you have the whole day, im sure that its do-able

you could always do a chocolate fondue pot if you have one and strawberries although there expensive because there out of season and banannas and cheesecake and butter cookies

I always make chocolate covered strawberries- they're so easy to prepare & look really elegant! If you're interested in cookies- I have a KILLER recipe- Flourless Peanut-Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies...They are SIMPLE to make & everybody loves them!!!!!! (and I come from a family of bakers so they can be seriously critical ).

i'd make a pie or cake kind of thing, and then i saw someone on here make chocolate pretzels, so i woul also make a couple of those for each couple as a take home kind of gift.

Oh I feel so bad for her FH. I had ACL surgery when I was 16. I hope he is okay.
